There were six of them one who had wanted through the Long evening with about 20 of her colleagues in the Hospital five who had rushed Over when they got word that they had better hurry. But they were too late. The player who had been inside the Hospital broke the news in the parking lot. After a very Public heart wrenching and heroic 4vi-year Battle with cancer Heather Farr had died. We All thought about this Day coming said Leo player Jenny Lidback. Who got up from the head table at a tournament banquet to dash to the Hospital. But now that twas happening it was so hard to they had known Herfor years since Junior Golf when they gave Herthe nickname mighty mouse because she was so Little and because shews so Good. She was going to become a Star on the Lyga tour that was for sure. Farr she walked a Golf course like she owned the place she had a devastating Short game and she never Ever left a putt Short. What she lacked in stature at 5 feet 1,she made up in heart. They All knew this Heather Farr was impossible to beat because she never gave up. When she left the tour Midway through her fourth year to have the Lump in her right breast checked out and when it turned out that it was malignant and when she said it was just a matter of time before she d be Back they All believed her. That was july 1989, when commentary she underwent the modified Radical came the 36 radiation treatments in a four month period and the chemotherapy. But she still said she was coming Back. This after an was Heather fair. Who knew anyone tougher she picked up her clubs and began practising just a Little in the fall of 1990. But her Back started Hurt ing. Doctors found two tutors one on her spine the other on the Back of her the Spring of 1991, she underwent Radical 15-hour Back surgery in which a seven Inch Rod was placed along Side her Backbone followed by a Bone marrow transplant followed by 39 Days in isolation to prevent infection. The tumor on her Skull was removed that summer. In the ensuing months cancerous spots were found other hip her Skull and her Pelvis. Still she spoke of Golf. She appeared at the Phoenix Loa event to say hello Toher friends or invite them Over to her House where she would lie on the Couch and feel comfortable enough Totake off her wig in front of them. A year and a half ago she finally made it to the tee again in a skins game in Nashville. Players held their breath when she swung. She did t hit it As far As usual but it was straight and in the Fairway. She smiled. She was on her Way ther were More problems. She never was cured. The cancer just kept coming Back. And Farr remained undaunted. She got married in March on a rare Day when she Felt great and looked Beautiful. Hundreds came to Phoenix. Meg Mallon skipped the tournament that was in Pho enix that weekend because she was in the wedding party and did t want a tee time to wedding Date had changed so Many times Mal Lon said. There was no Way i was going to miss it for Golf Day looking at her you never would have thought Heather Farr had cancer said tour player Tracy Kerdyk. She looked so Happy. She looked terrific four months later her Only sister Missy had a Babyboy. Heather assisted in the delivery room. But on nov. 11, after complaining of headaches she underwent surgery to relieve t brain Haemorrhage. Her condition worsened. She began to have seizures. By the end of the week she was heavily sedated. She idea sat urday without waking up. Mallon was Parr s Best Friend. At 8 30 on the night she died Mallon walked into Parr s Hospital room to say goodbye. She did t know i was there Mallon said. It s Hardtop articulate what i thought but i was glad i could go in and see her one last time. It was very difficult but it Felt Good to see her at within hours Farr died.
