For one magical moment saturday Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre turned 40 Yards of Silver dome turf into a playground. Favre had picked up 27 Yards on three passes and Edgar Bennett ran for 4 Yards to give the packers second and four at the Detroit 40. Packer coach Mike Holmgren called for a Standard pass to a wide receiver. With possibly one minute left in their season Favre thought it stupid. So he rolled left. He looked for his tight end then he looked to run at the precise moment Favre realized he had no idea what he was doing but he saw receiver Sterling Sharpe standing alone in the right Corner of the end zone. I figured what the Heck i d give it the big heave to he said. And so the packers were wildly tossed into the second round of the pfc play offs with Favre connecting with Sharpe on a touchdown pass that gave them a 28 24 Victory Over the Detroit Lions. A Joe Montana was sup posed to bring to Kansas City the kind of playoff magi that won four super bowls at san Francisco. Kansas City got magic from Montana and from its Spe Cial teams saturday in beating Pittsburgh 27-24 in overtime to Advance to the next round of the nil playoffs. Montana s magic was a 7 touchdown pass to Tim Barnett on fourth Down tying it with 1 43 left in Regula Tion. But he could t have done it had not Keith Cash blocked a punt and Fred Jones returned it 31 Yards to the Pittsburgh 9 just before the 2-minute warning. Then Montana moved the chiefs into position on their second overtime Possession and Nick Lowery came through with a 32 Field goal after 11 03 winning of of atoning for his miss at the end of regulation. Part of the fun of the game is having to Deal with pressure said Montana who was 28 of 43 for 276 Yards after missing his first seven throws. This week it looked for a while like Krieg could do a better Job than Montana who started out wearing gloves in the 10-degree chill and was shaken up when hit after his first completion and had to come out.
