Continued from Page 4 peaks before they hop on their first tricycles it was nothing to laugh at. We made Kip go first. Day 5 a Hill of death still shaking from the run the Day before we hit the red intermediate Hill. There were four of us left. Connie opted to master the practice Hill. Kip headed for Home because his Mother had to get Back to her office. That left me who did t fall much but when i did i a landed in the next county downstream Mark who had taken a hard fall on Bis knee on the Blue Hill Doris who had Learned to Glide downhill in slow motion and Dean a those legs were badly bruised but Well taped. At this Point i should probably mention something about this band of arc Early Bird ski week beginners who huddled together like tiny Chicks on the Edge of that icy red precipice. It was a bonding thing. We had stumbled and staggered together. Shared Days of thrills laughs tears and Mutual encouragement. Shared our advil. It was Little wonder that at that moment we were of a single mind about being 1,007 feet above Street level we had made one horrible sick mistake. However Dean had Given some consoling words on the Blue run the Day before. He reminded us that every Hill had been terrifying including the Grassy Knoll on the first Day. And How our skiing guru Dave had got us past each safely. He would save us from this one too. Quot Elfie make four Small turns Down Herb Quot Dave said. Quot turn on the soft Snow. See that  All right  it was like a Duck waddling through the flight of a flock of Birds a blur of sleek skiers flew by a colourful outfits goggles and Long skis a leaving us in their Spray. Snowboarders swooped around us like a horde of raptors from Jurassic Park gouging chunks out of the Mountainside. Delicate Doris said she kept envisioning that her neck would be slashed Quot like something out of one of those Friday the 13th  she and Mark conspired to Mutiny. But somehow Inch by Inch and fall after fall Dave coaxed us to a soft Grade. Then remarkably in a gloriously slow and Graceful line we skied the Mountain. Of there were a few glitches. There was the part where patient Dave who would make Job seem like a toddler with temper tantrums stomped his feet a Little. Quot Don t sit Down. Don t sit Down. Don t is it  there was also the Bottom of the Hill when i tried to make a turn behind and below our intrepid teacher. But my skis went Between his skis instead sending him flying. Ever hear a Liverpool Yodel still even though it took our band of beginners an Hopr and a half to finish what an accomplished skier would do in a few minutes we had caught a glimpse of the Summit. We knew we could go higher. And when we met Connie Back at the bus she was already talking about taking up paragliding next. A to a or Dave Formby com forts a crying Connie Widham on Day 4. To such a baby cried Connie As she hugged a photographer shortly after capturing the moment above. Tony Nuanes begins a run Down the slope of mount Grunwald Kopf left.
