The temperature dropped to 36 below in parts of Minnesota Early tuesday and into the single digits across  the Ohio Valley. Wind chills of minus 74 were reported in Rochester Minn. The front was expected to reach the Northeast by tuesday afternoon. Subzero temperatures were expected from the Plains to the Northeast and As far South As the Gulf coast.
