The cobblers Well stands in the Center of the new town lefts with other restaurants in the town it s quiet quaint and serves Good food. Since it s not frequented by hordes of tourists you la need to Brush up on your Cerman to order a meal. A walk along the outskirts of town reveals what is left of a Stone Wall that surrounded the City. More recent dwellings were built using the Wall As the common Back Wall of their houses. A round watchtower called the old sentry or wolves Tower dates to the 16th and 17th centuries. The Tower remains but the Hardwood Entrance doors Are locked. Also adjacent to downtown is a Catholic Parish Church called St. Peter. Tourist officials say this four steeped Church consecrated in 959, is thought to be the oldest of its kind in Westerwald. The building that stands today dates from 1545. About two blocks away is the 19th-Century protestant Church of St. Paul. Both churches Are still used today. A pleasant stroll can be enjoyed in a quiet housing area within a three minute walk from downtown. About one mile from downtown is a Cerman War cemetery with nearly 1,000 Graves. Some Graves Are without years of birth or death but most Are from 1945. Two or three Are from 1946, and one is from 1947. Most soldiers were in their late teens and Early 20s.
