The fans ranging from their mid-20s to late-40s, could t get enough of this la based underground group who was making its German debut with a new cd phase shifter the band led by Brothers Jeff and Steven Mcdonald Hopes its latest work its first in nearly five years and the first on a major Label will draw More attention than previous releases and build bigger concert audiences. We be always Bee ahead of our time said Jeff during a recent pre show interview at the Sachtleben Clubine Frankfurt Germany. To create their sound Jeff said the group takes the Best of what s happened in the last 30 years of Rock and makes its own blend inspired by the likes of the first British invasion in the 60s, new wave and new bands of the 90s. The first music i listened to was the beatles Jeff said. Jeff s vocal tone and Natality even resemble those of John Lennon in the beatles Early years. The band s roots go even deeper. Jeff is married to Charlotte Caffey sex Lead guitarist songwriter for the defunct go cos an All girl group that also paid Jeff Mcdonald Steve Mcdonald heavy musical homage to 60s pop. Another All female group of interest to the Mcdonalds is the influential japanese posters Shonen knife. We discovered them claimed Jeff. No japanese bands have made it in the United states. They saw a Bootleg video of the group then began corresponding with them and set the stage for the three women to play in the states. We got it Shonen knife started but the situation got too big to handle explained Jeff. In Frankfurt Redd Kross performed an 85-minute show with a vengeance. Jeff rhythm guitarist and Lead vocalist and bassist Steven topped up and Down throwing about their shoulder length hair. Considering these lanky Guys Are 6-feet-p us several inches this is a sight to behold but keyboardist Gere Fennelly looking right out of the 60s with her fake eyelashes and go go dancer routine also demanded attention. Described by Jeff Mcdonald As the female Liberace of san Francisco she pounded the keys As if possessed by ghouls. The quintet played five songs from its latest creation. Halfway through the set Redd Kross broke from its own compositions and played its version of the beatles it won t be Long. While not straying too far from the original the song found new life through the psychedelic keyboard sounds reminiscent of Pepper land. Even a musical version of do you Garth Brooks s4s photos Ken Georg before and after above left Redd Kross keyboardist Cere Fennelly bats swinging 60s lashes onstage at the  club then whips herself above into a Cousin itt frenzy. Know the Way to san Jose found its Way into the set. Whether it was planned or born out of silliness it was a pleasant Surprise. After blowing through 11 songs Redd Kross played two encores which included Elvis Presley s if i can dream. For the punish finale Fennelly took Center stage screaming out life s absurdities. She even played Lead guitarist Edward Kurdziel s guitar with a heavy foot on the Wah Wah pedal. Total feedback hammered the smoke filled room. A mock fight Between Jeff and Kurdziel eventually ended the show with Kurdziel falling to the floor holding a Towel with fake blood supposedly from a head injury.
