A correspondent in Miessau Germany sends word that a unique Opportunity for wanderers will take place feb. 12-13 at Battice Belgium. Every few years the historic fort at Battice opens its tunnels for the walk. This installation was the first fortification in Belgium to have been attacked by the German wehrmacht in 1940. Participants at this event will be allowed passage through the Tunnel and travel 100-150 feet below the fort and walk slightly less than one mile to the other Side. Of course the View is limited but walkers will see other tunnels intersecting this one and be Able to get a better idea of How living conditions were during the War. The Volk Sanarch event offers a variety of trails to the wanderer 1 0, 20 and 42 Kilometres. Passage inside the fort is possible by paying a Small fee of 1 Mark or 20 belgian francs about 60 cents.
