Missed Opportunity As i was Reading the May 24 edition of the stars and stripes i realized that you passed up on an unheard Opportunity. Amidst All the a who slept with whom before they became president a and a who used to be famous and finally died of cancer was a Small article that should have been on the cover Quot Here was an Opportunity to print something of meaning and substance. Something showing the finest qualities of caring and leadership and selfless sacrifice. The article was about sgt. 1st class Randall d. Shughart and master sgt. Gary i. Gordon both killed in Somalia. Sure i met Randy in school and maybe that makes me biased but what More honorable thing can one person do than willingly give his life for that of a fellow Soldier after All we done to serve because of the pittance that we re paid the shiny medals the nifty uniforms or the College Money. When the moment comes you do it for each other because that a what matters. A lastly of course is that the medal of Honor is not a a thanks for doing your tour a or a Good Job driving the commanding officers humvee during the exercise medal. Its the highest Honor our country can bestow. Slow Down when you edit so you done to miss the truly important things among All the rubbish. As the general goes through the Hospital he constantly tells of the Quality of care the military and family members will receive at army medical facilities. The Genera makes it quite Clear that if the medical conclusion could not be handled by the local military medical facilities they would be referred to a German Hospital. If this is necessary i Hope they know How to summon an ambulance. Recently Scotti slated a if people done to know How to summon an ambulance after three years that is not the fault of the in the article it also stated that the general could have been sent to the Kaiserslautern Hospital rather than the Walter Reed army medical Center. The Kaiserslautern Hospital is Well known for having an excellent staff of surgeons who Are thoroughly capable of performing this Type of. Surgery that is done almost daily. Since the renovation of the Kaiserslautern Hospital is Well known throughout Germany Why was the general not sent to this Hospital it could have been for one of these two reasons did the Genera feel the Hospital staff was not Well qualified to perform the Type of surgery As the staff at Walter Reed or does the general feel that he would not receive the vip treatment at the Hospital in Germany As he would receive at Walter Reed army medical Center the old saying is a what is Good for the Goose is Good for the this saying most certainly applies to the general. German hospitals Are Good enough for a member of the military and his family but not Good enough for the general a Darwin Givens Kapaun air station Germany unethical complaint is it really sexual harassment when a male Soldier tells a female Soldier that she looks Nice after a casual greeting or would it be considered so if that female Soldier took the compliment out of context and distorted it what she should have done was thanked the male Soldier for the compliment resume Dame to him and had a terrific Day which is what i would have done instead of trying to bring charges against a Good honest hard working Soldier that could Poss in by re i n his Ca ree r.
