We knew Rau had the shoulder prob Lem and we weren t going to go Long with him said Lasorda. Rau got out of the first inning with the help of a double play but left in the second after giving up a double to Reggie Jackson a single to Lou Piniella and a double to Chris Chambliss. I wanted to stay in Rau said. I Felt Fine but i m not the one to say the derision was wrong. Reliever Ricki Thoden pitched Fine. I thought i could pitch As Well As anyone today. I might not. Have been too effective because i was still a Little Leory of the Rau said Lasorda gave him no Lime to argue his Case on the Mound. When he comes out. And does t say anything you know you re gone Rau said. After the 4-2 loss Lasorda was asked if he had second thoughts about starting Rau. No second thoughts he said. I made the decision and that s the decision we stuck by. I m not going to second guess myself or any of the coaches now. When i went out to the Mound Rau told me he could pitch More and i told him. What in hell else is there to do 1 Cey was asked about a Ball he hit deep to left Field in the fourth inning. The Yankees Lou Piniella jumped at the Fence and hauled the Ball in for a Long out. I knew it would be close said Cey "1 did t hit it quite hard enough. He had too much time to get Back to the Wail and get set we be seen Don Gullett before said Steve Garvey speaking of the yanks fifth game Pitcher. He s a Good Man. But we feel this May be our time.
