The Survey underwritten by h & r Block also indicates growing Public sup port for a tax Reform that would Levy Hea vier taxes on the Rich and on big business and ease the Burden on Middle income families which most respondents describe As being in a $20,000 to $40,000 income bracket. A growing majority condemns the in come tax system As unfair to most peo ple the Survey said. A growing majority sees Middle income families As overtaxed while upper income people and Large Busi Nesses Are seen As under taxed. The Public believes that Over half of the very wealthy pay no income taxes at says automatic restraints safer Adams lauds airbags seat belts Washington a transportation Secretary Brock Adams said new surveys show automatic restraints in automobiles Are saving lives and that the Public sup ports the government s decision to make them mandatory in All cars. Adams told a news conference his department has been monitoring cars equipped with airbags and automatic seat belts and has found them to be much safer than autos with conventional safety belts. Those interviewed in the Survey were evenly divided on whether they preferred airbags or automatic seat belts. Only 25 percent said they use conventional safety belts most saying they were uncomfortable or difficult to use. One in five said they favored Laws that would re quire people to buckle conventional belts while 57 percent viewed the idea As poor.
