Kul Adri 29, and Kutila 26, do not live together anymore. Their paths Cross at mealtime at religious classes and sometimes during the course of the work Day. They took vows of celibacy when they married and do not have sex except to have Chil Dren. Both insist their relationship is close their lives simple and satisfying despite hostile neighbors and marginally adjusted parents. But the transition to their new life was initially painful at least for Kutila a sunburned blonde draped in a Long flowing Blue skirt and shawl. Then i became very serious about As Kutila tells it she and Arthur were living together when All of a sudden he called Rne on the phone and told me to come to the Temple. He was All shaved up. I had never seen anything like this. I m from a Middle class background. I was used to country in an attempt to forget about Arthur and the Krishna she took off for Mexico for eight months. She lived in Ideal circumstances next to a Waterfall and spent the time painting. But it stayed with me Kutila said. Every time i ate meat or had sex i heard a voice saying it was wrong. I drove for four straight Days and ended up Back the farm to which Kutila returned is on what is commonly called Mcreary s Ridge 10 Miles outside of Moundsville the Marshall county seat and site of the West Virginia Penitentiary. At present new Brindaban is a Muddy Motley collection of buildings residences and temples that includes shops for casting printing Marble and woodworking and Art. It looks industrious but not yet aesthetic. Children at age five or six go to a guru Kula school where they Are taught sanskrit Reading writing and math. Girls attend a separate Day school and remain at Home where they Are taught to Cook sew and look after other children. Kutila said instructional materials used at the boys school Are All published by the Krishna movement. No books outside the culture Are used. Kul Adri said women can teach or do secretarial and construction work. But generally we find they re very adapted to taking care of children so Why not let them do it he called it a matter of efficiency rather than exploitation.
