Coach Bernie Raetz legions rolled up a 14-0 first period Lead and then saw that Lead evaporate As the rockets used two to runs by Dwight Jackson and Scott Cole and a 66-Yard Cole to Jim Murphy pass to take a 21-14 halftime Lead. But in the second half it was All the Barons As Reserve fullback Bill Taylor scored three times and starting fullback Kevin Mcmillin and split end Jack Mclennan once  fact Pitburg so dominated the second half that Rhein main penetrated Pitburg territory once barely getting across the 50-Yard  Victory was Pitburg s fifth consecutive Continental sports conference win this season and keeps it Well out in front of the National division. Later in the first Quarter Robert Patter son intercepted a Warrior pass to set the stage for the next Sheik score. Wei Bricken unable to do any damage on the ground went to the air again in the second Quarter. This time Span Dahlem s Johnny Richard was waiting for it and scrambled to the Sheik 40. Span Dahlem was thrown for two Quick losses followed by a seven Yard screen from Heim to Steve Neal. Then with 10 26 remaining in the first half it was Heim to Allen for 37 Yards and the sheiks third touchdown. Catlett s kick was Good again and the warriors Trai led at the half 20-0. We Brucken picked up its Only tally in the third Quarter. An erratic snap by the Span Dahlem Center sent the Ball into and out of the end zone for a Warrior safety. Span Dahlem threatened later in the third period but the we Brucken defense held. From their own 40, the sheiks picked up yardage on Heim passes to regi child ers and Neal. Then Neal scrambled seven Yards to the 19 for a first Down. A personal foul brought the Ball to the nine a Neal run took it to the four and a face mask penalty put it on the two. But the sheiks could Only Muster one Yard in two plays As the warriors held fast. Wei Bricken took Over and the fourth Quarter got underway. The warriors tried to punt their Way out of the situation but an errant snap from the Center ended up As a Span Dahlem safety. The remainder of the last Quarter was a see saw defensive Battle in which neither team was Able to move far from the Center of the Gridiron. Allen s pass reception of 212 Yards and three ads led the offence for the sheiks while Neil led the ground attack with 31 Yards. Al Marquez was leading rusher for we Brucken picking up 67 Yards. After an Exchange of punts Rhein main took Over and utilized a Good drive for its third to Cole bolting off left tackle for the score. On a stacked to formation tight end Steve Holmgreen running in the Backfield rammed for the two Point conversion and a 21-14 Rhein main Lead. Mclennan took the ensuing Kickoff and travelled 90 Yards for a to Only to have a holding penalty nullify it and the half ended minutes later. Mclennan brought the second half kick off Back to the rocket 48 and the Barons scored in four plays Mcmiller ran 13 Yards cause had runs of seven and 24 and Mcmil Lin Rode the blocking of guard Mike Sorrels for four Yards and the to. Watts kicks tied the score 21-21. The rockets got nothing on its next pos session and the Barons took Over and marched again scoring on a four Yard pass from Mcmiller to Mclennan. Watts kick was blocked and the Barons led 27-21. Taylor s first to came on a one Yard run. It was set up on a 42-Yard Rugby Charles Hurd. Marvin Abney scored the two Point conversion on a pass from my Miller for a 35-21 Lead. Eighteen seconds later Pitburg tallied again. On the first play after the Kickoff Cole fumbled and the Barons recovered on the rocket 11. Hurd bolted for nine Yards to the two and Talor took it Over. Watts Pat failed but the Barons were up by 41-21. The final to came on a 50-Yard drive in five plays.
