The notion behind her suggestion was to prevent the lid from staying in an upright position. If you know the lid won t stay up you face the dilemma of figuring out How to hold it up if you re trying to relieve yourself while standing. It s not easy to keep one hand on the lid while answering nature Scall. Then there s the danger of an Accident. In an unfamiliar bathroom like my Mother in Law s you can end up soaking the seat cover the floor and the Wall when the lid you thought was going to stay up Falb abruptly in the Middle of things. Please withdraw your endorsement for that stupid solution. Ben thar Indiana dear Ben you know a lot More about this subject than i do. Consider the suggestion with drawn. Dear Ann Landers when i recently Learned that a Charity group was requesting garments for the needy i happily turn a Over whatever i could spare including some garments i might still have worn since i am a senior citizen on a limited income. Imagine my Surprise when i saw the Volunteer to whom i had Given the cloth ing wearing a Blouse i had intended fur the poor i was too stunned to comment particularly since i am quite Friendly with this person. After discussing the situation with an acquaintance i was told this is not unusual. My Friend said the knew of other volunteers who kept donated garments for themselves. She also informed me thai some new items donated by businesses were kept by the collectors and sent to relatives As gifts at Christmas time. I wish i could believe there is no truth to these stories but i m afraid i m naive. What would you do if something you have Given to Charity ended up on the Back of a Volunteer Bug eyed in san fran dear . I d write a letter to the Charity with out naming names. I would then find an other Charity for future contributions. Dear Ann Landers so Many women arc finding fault these Days with their husbands boyfriends or just men in general that they make me sick i suggest they take a closer look a some of the bozos on the available list. Ten years ago i was spoiled Rotten by a Good Man. I dumped him because i thought i could do better. Since that Fate Ful Day i be come across so Many Lemons my lips still pucker at the thought of them. Let this be a warning to those who look for faults with a magnifying Glass. 1 m signing myself and poet in Belleville dear sad Poe your letter i a Good one and it applies to men As Well As women. Only the perfect person has the right to demand perfection in others. I be yet to meet anyone who qualifies. Even the Best of the lot have a a Lille Clay around their feet. Rod and gun club responds to Hunter s concerns i am an american Hunter and i be Learned a lot about Hunting and Field sports Manship from the europeans. Now there s something new this year in the Usa eur Hunting program that 1 think is wrong. Arrangements have apparently been made in the program to let americans Hunt on private land in Belgium. I understand about 40 fallow Deer some Mouflon and wild boar can be hunted there. 1 am always glad to see More chances for americans to Hunt Over Here but in the Case of the Bel Gium Deal i m ashamed. Why because these animals will be bunted in Small pens of Only a few acres and have no Chance to escape. There s no sportsmanship in this Type of Hunting. It totally lacks appreciation for Hunting ethics. It s what our German Hunt ing friends would Call unpaid mannish or unsportsmanlike. Are american Hunters going to allow it to be known that they Are butchers what s even More disappointing is the association of american Rod and gun clubs Europe seems to condone it even though its Constitution proclaims promo Tion of sportsmanship in the Fields As one of its purposes. In fact the association seems to be calling it our i thought Usa eur was supposed to be in charge. I be been informed by sources i feel Are reliable that this belgian Deal was not arranged through proper procurement proce dures. I am asking for responsible management of a Usa eur program with consideration to sportsmanship common sense and Wise use of Money. Management by an association with its own elected staff just does t seem right. Name withheld Kaiser Lautem editor s note col. John a. Peck director morale support Directo rate 1st personnel come he usar eur replies the association of american Rod and gun clubs welcomes the Opportunity to set Forth the facts governing our Hunting activities on private Hunting grounds in Belgium. The image of the american Hunter abroad is of Paramount concern to All Rod and gun club members. Central to our standards is the requirement that the Hunting of Gank animals be done in a sportsmanlike manner. Anything less would demean the character of the Ameri can military Hunter. In regard to the belgian trip the bunt ing Opportunity arranged with local authorities involved two districts each Over 1,000 acres. These can hardly be considered Small pens of Only a few the trip was arranged in accordance with established procurement procedures. Several areas were inspected by the association of american Rod and gun club officials before the contract was approved for Belgium. As Many of your readers Are aware Hunting opportunities Are quite limited for american Hunters in Europe thus the importance of providing an additional Hunt ing Opportunity through our Belgium con tract. That the event was highly successful can be seen in the following unsolicited comments from two participants a Beautiful Beautiful Hunt. The food was great the Castle is Lovely the guides were very very helpful and Friendly. I Haven t had this much fun in Many years and i want to go again also my fallow Deer unofficially measures out As a new Sci world record that makes me very Happy needless to say the Deer is at Wolfgang Schenk s and he is an official measurer we will know where it ranks for sure later on.
