Sex Dodds principal pleads guilty to embezzlement by Chuck v1nchwashington Bureau Washington Chester j. Karpo Wicz former principal of the department of defense dependents school school in Pusan South Korea has pleaded guilty to charges of embezzlement income tax Eva Sion and making false statements a spokeswoman for the army criminal investigation come said. The charges against Karpowicz who was tired May 4,1984, stemmed from the disappearance of More than $500,000 in government funds while be was responsible for accepting tuition payments for children of non military personnel who at tended the school. The investigation found that in 1983 alone Karpowicz embezzled $80,715 of student tuition that he failed to report on his Federal income tax return. A Cic spokeswoman said no further details would be released until the end of a civil lawsuit filed by the Justice depart ment to recover the funds. That lawsuit has been on hold pending Tai criminal action. About $550,000 of Karpowicz s assets Are Frozen As the result of a restraining order granted in the civil lawsuit. Tha Cic spokeswoman said the civil lawsuit would be decided before sentencing. She estimated sentencing would take place in six to eight weeks. Dodds spokeswoman Kay Carrey said neither students nor staff at the school were deprived of supplies or serv ices because of the missing funds.
