And they skied away from the Field in the men s and women open divisions of the 2.6-Kilometer Cross country . A 23-year old first lieutenant cracked eight minutes in the sprint for the first time in anyone s memory. He skated around the course in 75.75. Sapp s Vii corps teammate. Frenette a 22-year old second Lieuten ant was even More dominant in her Divi Sion zipping to an 11 00.09 time and beat ing second place finisher Linda Naccarato by nearly four  comparisons frenetic s time would have placed third in men s seniors ands Condin masters. We both wound up in St. Law rence on the ski team and on the Roth program  it just happened i got stationed in Nuernberg where Randy  Sapp is with a co. 2nd support in and Frenette is with the 1st trans co. Brian Skinner of Garmisch whose name has become synonymous with Usa eur skiing in seven seasons and Gil Dodson of Augsburg won the seniors and masters races respectively for Vii corps. Both Are veterans of previous Susareu competitions but have never competed in the same age group. Skinner took the men s race for those 30-39 in 10.06.65. Dodson won the Mas ters 40 and Over in 10.10 23.0. Skinner succeeds Dodson As seniors Champ As both moved into an older age category this season. Carol Rudesill of v corps won. The women s seniors a new Ovcr-30 division this year. Rud silts time of 14.44 20.0 would have taken second place in the women s open division. Vii corps using its four division win ners from the earlier sprint race was a shoe in to win the 10.6-Kilometer team relay. Only two other teams 21st support come and 26th support group entered the relay. The 21st team took second but was Over 22 minutes behind the winning time of 48 30.62. Frenette led off the relay with a 12 52.59 clocking. She was followed by Dodson in 11 37.55, Skinner in 11 54.07 and Sapp in 10 06.42. The relay times were All considerably slower than in the sprint even though the course was the same. A storm that started during the first race dumped a lot of Snow on the course. The other commands entered Here setae and v corps did not enter the relay because they lacked the required on racer from each of four different divisions. Setae has a deep and talented men s open team which swept fourth through i oth places but no skiers in other divisions. V corps could have challenged Vii corp with a relay team of Rudesill seniors run Ner up Marty Knorr and open skier Tim Fisk but it lacked a masters entrant. Fisk who will be a Strong favorite in the Usa eur Alpine even Slater this week clocked 8 42.06 for the third Best time. He was followed in the open division in fourth and fifth by John Harrison and Thomas Lingle of setae. They were limed in 8 45.73 and 8 58.64, respectively. Dodson beat Knorr in1985 and Edquid was Defeated by Roger Arango who did not return this year. The course which included two Uphill climbs and two downhill sections won High Marks from the racers.
