Mcrae a Sophomore ran a 5.99 in the 55-meter dash bettering Carl lewis1 3-year-old record of 6.02. Haley also a Sophomore ran the 500 meters in 1 00.69 500, breaking the 1 00.85 Mark of Florida s Clarence Daniel set earlier this year. Mcrae was the first out of the blocks and beat olympian Sam Graddy of Tennessee who ran a 6.05. In the preliminaries Graddy had broken his own Mcaa indoor meet record with a time of 6.03. I Felt with Graddy and me in the same race it was going to be a fast race Mcrae said. I had a feeling i had a Chance to win or break the record with a Little More work on my  Haley said after his heat that Competition from olympic an Danny Harris of Iowa state and Harold spells of sum might push him to another world Mark in saturday night s finals. In the women s division Texas qualified two runners and Nebraska s 3,200-meter relay team had the Best time in the Early preliminary events. Mcaa from Page 21 the overtime Buzzer sounded to give Iowa state the Victory. With four seconds left in overtime Miami s Ron Hunter tied the game 79-79 with a Layup on a controversial goal ending Call against Iowa state s Jeff grayer. For Arkansas Paul Donovan had the Best qualifying time in the 3,000 meters with 7 54.58. His freshman team mate Joe Falcon also will be in saturday s 3,200-meter finals and Doug Consiglio qualified in the 1,000. The Razorbacks 3,200-meter relay team had the Best preliminary time of 7 27.83. Texas Karol Davidson s time of 2 45.29 in the 1,000 meters was the second Best heat time behind Susan Nash of Florida who ran 2 44.82. Liz Natale also qualified for the longhorns in the 3,000 meters. Co Fey stars As Edmonton Routs wings from press dispatches Edmonton Alberta Paul Coffey collected a record tying eight Points and Glenn Anderson scored three goals including his 51st of the year to Power the Edmonton oilers to a 12-3 rout Friday night of the Detroit red wings.
