The clinic run by Navy paediatricians and the civilian school nurse served High school students one Day a week. The medi Cal personnel saw teens for minor complaints and some counselling but medi cation and definitive treatment were not provided without referral to the Navy hos Pital. I closed the clinic to make sure we Are in compliance with current medical com Mand guidelines. I will be reviewing the issues said or. Capt Robert Haider Hospital commander. He said the clinic is a Good idea and he believes it will reopen soon. The clinic which was closed feb. 25, was featured in a stars and stripes report in january on teen clinics operated by the Mil itary in Europe. As a result of the stars and stripes query about the facility the operation of the screening clinic was brought to the Atten Tion of the commander of the naval medi Cal come european Region said cmdr. Naval officials then Learned the clinic had been established before the Hospital was accredited in 1984 by the joint com Mission on accreditation of hospitals which stipulated the criteria that must be satisfied by All clinics run by the Hospital Peterson said thursday. The commission is a private organization of health care professions that sets operating standards for hospitals. Seeking accreditation is voluntary. We just need to be sure that it meets the criteria established to meet the accreditation of the Hospital Peterson said. It s a Quality of care  Peterson said medical officials need to ensure that patient privacy is protected that there is adequate equipment and sup plies and that medical personnel have a Cess to the teens health records. They also must review whether teens of civilian families eligible for care reimburse the military system. All medical services no matter How minor or Basic must be viewed and delivered consistent with the same High Stan Dards of Quality care required of any free standing medical care clinic said it.
