In his radio speech Reagan called Suharto a longtime Friend of the United states and a most responsible influence in world affairs and a Force for the economic Progress of his people at  Reagan said he would raise the subject of Vietnam s occupation of Cambodia at his meeting with the foreign ministers of the association of Southeast asian nations Indonesia the Philippines Thailand Malaysia Singapore and Brunei. America along with our Asean friends believes that Vietnam should with draw its forces from Cambodia and permit the cambodian people to determine their own destiny. Vietnam has spurned any and All reasonable Asean requests for a negotiated settlement of the problem Reagan said. He said the United states has made it Clear that it s ready to participate constructively in an Overall settlement. The communist government of Vietnam however to the detriment of its own National interest remains  at the 12th annual Summit of industrialized democracies in Tokyo following the Asean meeting Reagan said our catch word will be Freedom and cooperation.
