   European Stars And Stripes (Newspaper) - July 11, 1988, Darmstadt, Hesse                                Senna nabs 4th Victory of season Silverstone England a Ayr ton Senna posted his fourth formula one championship Victory of the season sunday when he won the British grand prix at rain soaked Silverstone. The 28-year-old brazilian led from Lap 14 of the 65-circuit race to beat runner up Nigel Mansell of Britain by some 23 seconds and extend the unbeaten Streak of the Mclaren Honda team to eight races. Mansell who has had a disappointing season with the Williams Judd team picked up his first Points of the season after finishing a race for the first time. In third place was Alessandro Nannin iof Italy in a Benetton Ford while another brazilian Mauricio Gugelman in a March Judd collected his first championship Points of the season by finishing fourth. World championship Leader Alain Prost of France whose modified Mclaren Honda had suffered steering problems All week retired from the race on the26th Lap. He saw his advantage Over Senna in the standings Cut to six Points. Prost has 54 Points while Senna has 48. It was Senna s third Victory in four races and his first in Britain. Georg Bull with two hits i three at bats paced the Amigos in the second game. A a baseball the left handed Bevans went the route in both games allowing eight hits in the opener and five in the Nightcap. The comets scored their Only run inthe seventh inning of the second contest and were threatening to keep their Rall going when the Amigos pulled off a Dou ble play to end the game. Mannheim upped its Northern Divi Sion leading record to 14-2, while Darm Stadt dropped to 4-8. Bamberg 7-6, Stuttgart 2-8 Stuttgart West Germany the Bamberg braves behind the two hit pitching of Winner Alan Martell punished some shaky Fielding and 11 walk by plating 6 unearned runs and coasting in the opener. Winning Pitcher Garland Diamond survived a three run rally in the seventh to earn the win surrendering seven hits and two walks in a five strikeout performance. Canada s Bauer regains tour Lead Nancy France a Rolf Golz of West Germany won the eighth leg of the tour de France cycling classic sunday a Canada s Steve Bauer regained the Over All , Riding for super convex was the fastest in a breakaway of 16 riders which separated from the pack six Miles from the finish. The group sprinted to the finish completing the 137-mile leg from reims in 5 hours 24 minutes 18 seconds. The pack was 20 seconds  s Etienne de Wilde was Sec Ond and Italy s Gianni Bugno third. Bauer also in the breakaway took the Leader s yellow Jersey from dutchman Jelle Nijdam one of three cyclists fro the Netherlands who has held the Lead. He failed to place among the top 25 finishers sunday. Bauer had held the Lead following the first Day of the cycling classic which ends july 24 in Paris after a clockwise tour around France. Curvin wins Woodlawn by 8 shots Ramstein a West Ger Many Ken Curvin of Ramstein celebrated his return to competitive Golf after a two year Layoff with a runaway eight stroke Victory in the Woodlawn invitational tournament sunday. Curvin a 29-year-old air traffic controller fired his second straight 72 sunday and finished with a 2-under-Par 278 total for the 72-Hole tournament. Defending championed Burgesson Ramstein made a run at Curvin on the front nine sunday cutting Thetro Trunner s nine shot Lead to four at the turn. But Curtin hit a pitching Edge to within 18 inches of the pin on the 146-Yard 10th Hole for a Bir die and a Lead of five. Then Curvin notched his secon Bird in a Row on the 455-Yard, Par 5 11 the while Burgess was bogey ing and the former military Airlift come Champion s Lead was Back to seven. It never dipped below five strokes after that. Curvin sewed up the Victory Withan Eagle on the Par 5, 507-Yard 16th Hole where he made an 18-foot put from the fringe of the Green. For the tournament Curvin had 15 birdies plus his Eagle. His first two rounds were both 3-under Par 67s. Burgess fired a a Over 71 Sun Day and finished with a 286 total. He won last year s Woodlaw tournament with a 298. Larry Galaviz of Heidelberg came from five strokes behind Ramstein s Jim goodnight Start ing the final round to lie Good night for third place at 296. Gala Viz fired a 72 sunday while goodnight recorded a 77. A total of 149 golfers entered the annual four Day tournament
