I want to share my Story and offer Little advice. I was your average Young Man from a Good Home and graduate from High school with honors including one for Good citizenship. Indy senior year i was awarded the Chick Evans scholarship and went off to Indiana University where i discovered  the summer of 1987, i was involved in an Acci Dent that changed my life. After drinking too much Iran head on into another car and killed somebody. Although alcohol was responsible for this tragedy the authorities agreed that i am not an alcoholic. This is my message Ann you Don t have to be an alcohol Cor even a frequent Drinker to be involved in a tragic Accident. In fact i was a Strong advocate of not drink ing and driving. Many times i was the designated Driver. On those nights i never touched alcohol. The nigh of the Accident i should have let someone else drive my car but i was too childish and stubborn. I was sure i could handle it. Same old Story now i am paying for my foolishness by spending five years in prison. Of course the death i caused will be on my conscience forever. Have you noticed lately How Many companies emphasize the packaging of their product rather than the product itself for example Peanut butter in a shatter proof Jar toothpaste with a pump dispenser instead of just the old tube liquid bleach in a splatter proof Jug detergent in a sure Seal Box and Popcorn in its own Popper. These Are a few examples that come to mind. I m sure that the labor and materials for All the fancy packaging Cost More than the product itself. When you re a senior citizen living on a fixed in come pinching pennies to get by you Don t give a hang about fancy packaging. You Are interested in obtaining the product at the lowest Cost possible. The consumer who is on a tight budget and not interested in the gadgetry and gimmicks can almost always get the product at a cheaper Price if he does t want the gussied up version. Military i have Learned that every race has its great men and women who strive an achieve for the common Good of All and those who Are evil corrupt and look to take advantage of  Justice be served to the latter. President must make decisive stand and not tolerate the repressive policies of the Botha regime. World opinion and pressure is no great enough until apartheid is dismantled and constitutional freedoms and rights based not on race but inequality Are instituted. It is time for husbands and wives to spend hours working on their lawns to capture the title of Yard of the month As their own. But should there be a Yard of the month mos people would answer this question by saying if some one spends hours working on his Lawn then that per son certainly deserves recognition if the Lawn indeed looks Best. But this attitude cannot be Felt by All. Only a few people realize that the contest is not  you have Ever driven through a housing Complex you will understand Why. Some people Start with Yards that have More Promise than others. No two lawns Arete same and in Many cases the differences Are numer Ous. The sizes and shapes vary greatly. Some Yards Are Flat while others Are sloped. Some lawns have boulders or Trees to work around while others Only have grass. Sure boulders and Trees can be used to improve the Overall look of a Lawn but what if you could t get grass to grow due to bad soil or insufficient drainage this snot rare in military housing. There is almost always at least one family in a Complex that has this  could be spent attempting to get grass to grow but the results would always be disappointing. A per son in this situation could never win and it would not be his fault. Now is having a Yard of the month really fair tothe person who tries extremely hard to get Good results but does t succeed admittedly the idea behind Yard of the month is sound. By giving people some thing to work for the entire neighbourhood profits from the results. But there can t be a fair Yard of the month con test when some people put hours of work into their lawns and still have no Chance of winning through no fault of their own. People who try hard deserve recognition for their Effort. If there has to be a Yard of the month the maybe there should also be an Effort of the month for those who do the very Best with what Little they May have to work with.
