It was the British school of Brussels Cathy spar Row that stripped the senior compulsory class Iii title Fulda s Amanda Hauser had worked so diligently for in last year s Competition. The Day s earlier Junior compulsory class Iii Competition saw Janine Meek of ram Stem and Hei Delberg s Tina Slade fight tooth and Nail for the 35.05s that earned them both top spot on the podium. While Sparrow did t score a first in one individual event two seconds plus two third placings was the consistent combination needed for the All around title. She beat Hauser by a Only .30. Down to the last event Sparrow led Hauser by 35. Hauser accepted the Challenge and scored a 9 20 on the horse to tie for first with Alison Rygler of Hahn. However Sparrow did t let the High score frazzle her nerves she vaulted for a 9.15, Good enough for second on the vault and a Crown in the All around. Although the two girls Competition was close throughout Sparrow trailed Only in the first event. Hauser came out on the uneven bars and scored a 9.65 to take the Gold. Sparrow had a Good showing with her 9.40 Good for second. On the beam Sparrow gained a third placing her lowest for the Competition with an 8.75. She trailed Heidelberg s Beth Cudahy who scored a 9.10 and Amy Sevier of Frankfurt,.80. Ramstein s Michelle Rogers dominated the floor exercise with a 9.60, followed by Sparrow s 9.50. I think i did Well for me really. The last two competitions against Amanda she beat me said Sparrow. The 15-year-old explained that the bal Ance beam had been her downfall in the past. My coach Margaret Hayward really helped me and we worked especially hard on the beam during practices she continued. The Junior class Iii Competition saw Meek Lake first on the bars 9.20 Slade look second 8.90. Slade took first on the floor 9.60 Meek look Sec Ond 9.55. On the vault Slade took second with an 8.80 to Hahn s Tara slim son s 8.85. Meek did l place in inc lop six. However on the beam it was again Meek s turn to Shine Wilh an 8.40 Good for second after i Job s Joanne Graham s 8.55. This Cuenl Slade scored fourth with a 7.75. The Trade offs that took place throughout inc Day s Etc nos show the girls to be very close compel Milors and inc outcome was not surprising.
