The doctors gave Joshua Only Days to live but he has survived five weeks since then on intravenous feedings said his lather Freddie Harding a former physics teacher at Giesse High school. This week we were rewarded with several smiles and some Short whispered communications like i m thirsty i Hurt and a lip movement i love you " he said. Joshua s father and Mother Juanita Are not working so they can take care of their son full time. Medical insurance does not cover the Home care. Juanita was a kindergarten teacher at Butzbach elementary school. Before leaving West Germany Freddie Harding attempted to receive donated leave but the overseas school system has no program tallow it. The family s ordeal began new year s Day in 1989, when they Learned Joshua had 10 malignant brain tutors and one on his spine. Doctors believed the tutors had grown quickly Over three or four months. The hardings including siblings Jay 13, and Nada 15, Are staying with rela Tives in Spencer Tenn. Many people thought that was going to be  after the first session with Arbuckle the woman admitted that we have to Stop saying what if Well drive our selves  among those who Don t remember the Accident was Shannon Dickey 18. He attended the picnic to see if i remember anybody that might have helped me. I want to remember what happened. I lost a whole  the group shared three hours of talk ing and comparing experiences. People who had lost the memory of minutes hours or the entire Accident sequence had details filled in for them by others who remember seeing them walking around talking and helping out. Despite the limited time of the picnic Arbuckle Felt that most of the group had been helped. We were Able to identify the needs of a lot of people and were Able to make referrals to the school psychologists a buckle said. Because of the picnic he added most of them Felt less  Heidelberg Junior gets Washington internship Heidelberg West Germany Brian Kirsch has added another Feather to his Cap. The Heidelberg High school student has been selected to be a research intern at the research science Institute at George Washington University in Washington this summer. Kirsch a Junior is the first depart ment of defense dependents schools student chosen for the highly competitive program. He will be one of 90 National and International students attend ing the Washington Institute. The six week residential program is sponsored by the Center for excellence in education and runs june 24 through aug. 4. Kirsch s High scores on the Scholastic aptitude test and numerous achieve ment tests and other Scholastic accomplishments earned him consideration for the Institute. He also has maintained a 4.0 Grade average at Heidelberg High school and was named outstanding mathematics scholar and outstanding Overall scholar by Depauw Unive Siw during its Dodds sponsored Summe Challenge program last year. He is a three sport athlete and co Cap Tain of he track team president of the Junior class and a member of the nation shop or snc1cty 3i?d the German Honor Jey flu it m German he is studying russian. The 16-year-old is the son of Dodds employees and has attended Only Dodds schools. He will return to Hei Delberg for his senior year where he Hopes to graduate As valedictorian. The Institute s objective is to Foster the intellectual and practical skills of gifted Young scholars in the sciences and mathematics to assure world technological leadership. The program combines on Campus course work in scientific the Ory with off Campus work in scientific research under the direction of scientists. Mathematicians and engineers. Brian Kirsch
