The narrow window with splashes of Bright Green yellow Orange and Pink is in the Back of All saints Parish Church. It features Petty and Franklin with the intertwined flags of Britain and America Between them. Franklin holds a Parchment that explains the tribute and the importance of the two men. On the sides Are two panes of200-year-old georgian Glass. The project grew out of an extensive fund raising Effort by the 67-student class of�?T90. The class dedicated the window to the people of High Wycombe during commencement ceremonies in the Church on june 13. Senior class president Cliff Steger saw a Good reason for the hard work that produced the window. A a we re giving american teen agers a Good name a Steger said. Class members credit the schools Host nation adviser Frances Alexander with planting the idea for the memorial. A that window will be there Long after they re gone a the 25-year resident of High Wycombe said. A a it a something for Petty the second Earl of Shelburne and first Marquis of Lansdowne was a fast climber in Britain a political circles in the late 1700s, even though he supported americans Independence movement. He kept a painting of George Washington in his study throughout the american revolution. A i Only filled out half the questionnaire because i was late to track it was several weeks before she found out that this was the Start of the Road leading to the citizens Bee and that she had been selected As one of her schools alternates for the regional Competition in the department of defense dependents schools. The annual contest sponsored by close up a civic education foundation tests students knowledge of american government geography economics history culture and current events. It was won this year by Jon Joseph of Muskegon mich., who will attend Washington a Georgetown University in the fall. As Fate would have it two of the three competitors for Heidelberg High dropped out of the Dodds regional Competition putting Davis in it. A one was involved in soccer and the other got Chicken pox a she said. Aided by some relatively easy questions she found herself alone among 56 other Dodds Europe students and on her Way to Washington where the National Competition with written and Oral questions turned out to be far More rigorous. A one thing i had to do was go through the entire original Constitution and highlight the passages that had been changed by amendments. Joseph won the fifth annual Competition after correctly outlining the constitutional provision governing letters of Marque and reprisal. Joseph who graduated this month from Muskegon Catholic High school received a $7,000 scholarship As first prize. Second prize which carries a scholarship of $5,000, went to Derek Baxter who will be a senior in the fall at . Woodson High school in Fairfax a. Gautam Dutta a graduate of cistercian prep in Irving Texas who plans to go to Yale won third prize with a $3,000 scholarship. Joseph had a final score of 143 Points based on written and Oral answers. Baxter had a score of 136 and Dutta scored 133. The final question to Joseph which was Good for 12 Points was to define letters of Marque and reprisal and say what Branch of government the Constitution empowered to Grant them.
