There Are different types of masks for the different chores soldiers sailors and airmen arc asked to perform. There is one for the Basic infantryman another that makes it easier to use radios masks for tank soldiers for combat vehicle Drivers and for pilots. And if a Soldier wears glasses at Basic training he is issued pop out prescription lenses that will fit his mask. The mask has a flexible Straw on it that can be used for drinking water. The two layer suits have an outer layer of a Cotton Nylon weave. The inner layer is a foam impregnated with charcoal to filter out dangerous nerve agents or Mustard Gas before it reaches the skin. The mask itself has a filter to protect the lungs.
