Presley died in the mansion on aug. 16, 1977, a Klong lineup of 13th anniversary events includes dances and musical shows a Presley Impersonator contest and a candlelight procession past his grave. For several years after his death the anniversary gatherings were informal but that began to change when the ground floor of Graceland opened for pub lie Tours in 1982. Now the anniversary is the focal Point of Elvis International tribute week. Graceland the White columned georgian residence Presley bought in 1957, attracts More than 600,000 visitors a year and is expected to draw More than 30,000 this week.
