He had been a Bank robber in the �?T30s, and spoke with fondness of the people who used to make decent folks afraid to walk the streets people like Alvin Karpis Doc and Freddie Barker and pretty boy Floyd robbers killers and kidnappers. Robert had run with the big dogs As they say in Texas what i liked about Robert was that he did no to invent some psychological or social condition to excuse his sins. He robbed Banks because he liked to and when he was apprehended they sent him to prison just like he knew they would All along. He did an awful lot of Lime in some very unpleasant circumstances. One Beautiful summer morning he took me out to Alcatraz to see his old cell. They had photos of Robert for Sale in the souvenir shop. We stood by the cold Rusty trash strewn cells and looked out the broken windows at san Francisco Bay and the City shining like new Money in the Sunshine with the crying gulls diving at the Bright Blue water.
