C creators Syndicate Vedneeda november 14, 1990 the stars and stripes Page 1 letters writer thanks All who helped retrieve car yes two weeks ago i finally got my car Back from Pockay in East Germany. I want to thank you and John Millar in Wurzburg for printing my Story. It not Only allowed me to vent some of my frustration but also served As a warning to others that All is not wonderful a Over there just because the Berlin Wall has come Down. There Are bureaucratic problems that will take a Long time to fix and capitalistic greed is alive and Well despite All those years of communist Rule. In a still angry at the situation. But i want to take this Opportunity to publicly thank All of those who helped me and provided moral support without which i think i would have gone crazy or lost my car. First my most excellent Friend Erik Trott who became obsessed with the whole mess writing dozens of letters making a and trying to make a so Many Telephone Calls and sending telegrams not Only to the tra Bant dealer and the Zenner family and Herr Schmidt the lawyer in Dresden but also to the German press the insurance companies adar and anyone else he could think of. He also loaned me his precious Golf Turbo for a month and most importantly supported me through the darkest moments of disappointment and depression. A special thanks to Erik a family his wife Sonja who put up with All of this and his parents Christian and Erica in Sailau who became almost As obsessed and had the Only Telephone connection that was successful in reaching the East through Erica a Cousin Norbert Krauter in Bernshausen. Good things came out of this bad situation. One was meeting Norbert and his family and being reassured that there Are wonderful people a Over Norbert made dozens of phone Calls for us and relayed them Back through Sailau. I also thank Janie and Marco Izquierdo for lending me their car for a month and Chris and Jim Roberts for lending me theirs for a weekend while i located and bought the a a Klunkert that Dan Hintzman and his brother Jim found for me to use the next two and a half months a which turned out to be the Deal of the Century and is still running Strong. Thanks Guys. Adar deserves a big thank you for referring me to Wolfgang Schmidt in Dresden to whom i am very thankful and for generously notifying him that it would pay a Good portion of his fees though my membership did not include that service. I heartily recommend adar membership to everyone who owns a car. Thanks too to Byron Braun who took the time to explain All the Legal aspects of this situation and probably prevented me from doing something foolish in a moment of desperation. Byron and his wife Gretchen Are old friends id lost touch with and found again through your publication of my Story. Thanks to you for that. Quite a few people from my past this is my fourth tour in Germany contacted me after your july article. Thanks to everyone who supported me and helped me through a really frustrating time. There Are More knights in shining Armor to mention staff sgt. Frische who came to my Aid in the Middle of the night on the lonely Road Down the Mountain from Wil Flecken to Fulda when an improperly installed Radiator Hose blew the Day after i picked up my car in Pockay and the Guys at Fulda a Auto Craft shop who made the front lights workable until i could get to a real Bow dealer. I must mention also that a Large part of the frustration i went through came from being turned away by the official sources i thought were supposed to help. Thank you once again stars and stripes for All your help and for allowing me this Opportunity to let the world know about some truly wonderful people. Also would you please destroy the negative and All copies of the worst picture Ever taken of me a Sharon e. Gordon Wil Flecken Germany a writer says . Beef is much better a recent letter to the editor questioned the amount of Money being spent to bring beef described As a slightly better to commissaries from the United states. As an experienced meat Cutter i feel i must Challenge that description based not Only on my Job related experience but also As a consumer. The difference Between .d.a. Choice and Grade c european is More than the writer states that its difficult to Tell the difference Between a a. Two to Bones marinated grilled and seasoned with onion Salt and garlic a fair test would be to Only Grill the steaks and eat them As they Are naturally. In a sure the actual difference will be easy to taste. He also uses the a a fact that Jim Henson a a May have died due to something a related to hormone use in beef. There Are too Many a a maybes in this unfortunate death to cause a panic among Consumers. As one of the replies stated a hormones that Are approved for use based on scientific study and that Are monitored by our regulatory agencies involve no health i too enjoy american beef As much As anyone. But when he says we should keep things on a less slanted perspective i Felt compelled to balance his slanted letter with mine. The 7th trans group has been responsible for the discharge of All Ocean going vessels arriving in theater including equipment of the 24th inf div 101st airborne div 197th inf brigade 3rd army Cav regt and the 1st Cav div.
