You May accept that waiting in lines is a fact of life overseas but i done to and neither does cafes. Our Post theater which is run by cafes allows ticket sales for some movies Well before they Start. People done to have to wait a. Long time in most cases in the Normal line and it provides a Way to not wait in it at All. This is because somebody a a complained about something they saw that could possibly be made better. Your letter was titled a standing up for cafes a when actually you weren to giving them enough credit. Cafes which has enough problems As you stated took a Chance to make at least one line Shorter to make a the system better and it worked. Maybe a a Cash Only line Isnit the greatest suggestion but i believe its Worth a try. Better yet try a a Cash priority line. That Way if it does no to get a lot of use others can use it too. People who pay with Cash should have one line for their convenience other than the express line. Whether a minority or not i believe that cafes strives to please All of its customers not just most of them. A Randy la Salle Mannheim German lost Roll of film we recently received someone else a developed film along with ours in a package from Deans photo lab. Perhaps someone has already inquired about this lost Roll of film. It contains pictures of men in Green fatigues working in a red Cross building As Well As pictures of red Cross helicopters aiding some civilians. Since we can imagine How disappointed someone must feel not receiving their photos we Are anxious to return them to the rightful owner. A it. John Mouritsen Vicc pc 61, Box 4000 Apo a 09642-4000con game warning while waiting to Purchase a train ticket at the Mainz main train station a Well dressed older German Man began talking to me. He was very Friendly and when i concluded my business offered to buy me a Coke while i waited for my train. It was very hot so 1 accepted. A a Heinz said he worked for ism Europe and travelled extensively to the United states which All fit based on his attire and command of the English language. As i was about to leave a a Heinz asked me if i could do him a favor. He explained he was about to go on a business trip to the states and needed dollars. He offered a very generous 2-to-l rate. I had $60 on me and figured 1 could Exchange the Marks i would get for dollars later and make Money. A a Heinz seemed very nervous about exchanging the Money out in the open so he led me like a sheep to Slaughter to a More Remote area of the Bohnhof. I saw him count out 120 Marks and stuff it into an envelope a i presumed to be More inconspicuous. 1 gave him my $60 and he gave me the envelope. A a Heinz said a Friend of his was going to be arriving soon and that he would be in the bar waiting for him. I bid him Farewell walked Down the stairs to get to my track and never saw him again. A creeping suspicion that i had just been conned began Over me. I Tore open the envelope to find several pieces of folded paper where i swore i saw him put the Money minutes before. Needless to say a a Heinz was probably five blocks away indeed enjoying a Beer doubtless without his Friend and gleefully reflecting on the stupidity of americans. Since a a Heinz was not around the German police could not help me and filing a lengthy report downtown would not Only prove useless without a suspect but it also meant i would have to miss my train. I chalked All this up As a relatively inexpensive Price to pay for a valuable lesson. Do not Trust people. If we Are All aware of the con games a a Heinz and others like him try to play on trusting americans the harm done to his business would greatly outweigh any i would do if i see him again. A spec. While the special forces Community is disgruntled it is not without Good reason. Gen. Crosbie a Saint stated that Only the Best facilities in Europe would be retained. Flint Cavern in bad Tolz was named Small Community of excellence in Europe and came in second worldwide in 1990. Less than three months later our closure was announced. I have lived in bad Tolz for four years. I have never seen or heard of rats in any of the housing areas. 1 was in the re stationing cell offices the Day a rat was brought in by a Soldier who was assigned to quarters on Panzer. He had killed it outside his front door. We Are supposed to be Happy about moving into that our complaints go Way beyond where we be been sent by the army. It is How this re stationing has been handled that has caused us so much heartburn. We were All gearing up for this base closure when War broke out in the persian Gulf. Many of our soldiers were deployed and then redeployed three weeks after their return to help with operation provide Comfort this whole time there were questions about How the deployments were going to affect the base closure. Because our Community rear detachment was receiving no answers from the policy making Levels they had no answers for us. Finally we were told that they would not move us without our soldiers. What they did not Tell us was that our Post and services would be closed out from under us while we were still there. They condensed a 12-month time schedule into three months. Rather than allowing for the time the War took away from this Effort in order to meet deadlines this move has been railroaded through. A six month Extension would have allowed for a smoother and letters to the editor much More Cost effective transition. Because of the time constraints it has not been Well managed. Nobody at High Levels of command wanted to hear that it was logistically impossible to move this Community by the deadlines set. Nobody at the a worker been level had the integrity and moral courage to Tell their report card writers what they did no to want to hear. Nobody seems to understand that if its , its right. Because of the Rush certain requirements normally placed on moving companies have been waived resulting in loss and damage to our household goods. The claims office at this end on any Given Day is full of people who have moved from bad Tolz. Our soldiers have had to move into temporary offices because the construction to meet their Mission requirements has not yet been completed. To everyone at the decision making Levels of command concerning this base closure i invite you to hold a Public forum on Panzer Cavern to assess this move from the Point of View of the people actually involved. This would provide insight into better management of subsequent draw Downs and Resta Tion Ings. And show some real concern for the welfare of the people in your command. It has been noticeably lacking lately. A Karen Laskowsky Stuttgart German abortions Are harmful a doctors recent argument that Quality of life should determine a fetuses Fate is a separate Issue a that of the use of extraordinary care for anyone who has virtually no human interaction. We cannot know what an individual baby a life will produce until after it is born except in a few Well described birth defects such As Anen Cephal. I have done Many ultrasound exams on fetuses who were the same age As Many aborted fetuses and have seen the Early heartbeats and movements of the limbs and body. How thy physician who subscribes to the hippocratic oath can agree with the elimination of these human lives and say he is a doing no harm is beyond logic and reason. I Only wish that these doctors would inform their patients of what they really know about what is happening in the womb. There Are Many social issues involved in unwanted pregnancies and children born with severe medical problems. We must give these lives a Chance first and anti abortion groups. Must focus on helping beyond the pregnancy As Well As preserving the uniquely human life that is miraculously created at Conception. A capt. Michael l. Tuggy .
