My sole responsibility is to protect and defend the Constitution. Brits May be allies but i have no responsibility to like them in fact i abhor the european society in general and the culture in particular. Now my paper is cluttered with the Dainty opinion of a foreigner condemning me and my guns of Coward disc. I think we in the United states have had All of the european View that we need. Every time a Domestic problem is discussed someone inevitably brings up the Point that in Europe they do this or they do that. The big Surprise is that we Arentt europeans. We Are americans. We speak american. The problem is and always has been that too Many of our leaders worry More about what the europeans think we should do. What the europeans should do is mind their own business fight their own wars and pay their own Way. Let me say that gun control is an american Issue for and by americans. A Mack a. Pattarozzi Niernberg Germany letters to the editor Ders from the capital City of Belgrade Yugoslavia. This strife has existed for some time now but has Only dangerously heightened in the last two years. Warmth toward americans and the extreme american attitude for what we stand for is inexpressible. One would have to see and experience it to truly believe and appreciate it. A As wonderfully As i was received i departed on a tremendous note of sadness frustrated Over what i saw As a futile struggle for albanian self determination. Where is the West a commitment to the notion of democratic self deter i nation Tor the albanian people of Kosovo to the South a Derrick l. Jones Heidelberg German Justice not served in december of this year ill be leaving the air Force after Only 3vi years of service voluntary separation. There Are Many reasons in a calling it quits too Many to go into now although i will relate one that your readers might find amusing. A last summer i attended a school at Lowrey fab Colo. After graduation i missed my flight out to Philadelphia overslept. I rushed to to and was booked on the next flight out in plenty of time to make my connection to the military charter that would take me Back to Turkey. As is Standard procedure the no at to called the student Squadron orderly room to inform them of what had happened and that i would be leaving an hour later than expected. As Luck would have it the instructor who took the Call was the same instructor i had a minor disagreement with a week before. The to representative informed me i was to report to the orderly room immediately. To make a Long Story Short i stayed in Denver an extra eight Days while an article is was processed. This coincided with a four Day labor Day Holiday. When the article is was finished dereliction of duty a it was my duty to make the flight no reduction of Grade $250 Fine was booked on a military charter through Germany Back to Turkey. The flight was scrubbed in Germany and changed to cargo Only so i waited in Germany for four Days until the local to finally sent me on a commercial flight to Turkey $900. So with a Little math we conclude that my punishment Cost about $1,300 $16.50 a Day at Lowrey $60 a Day in Germany $900 commercial flight. The return was $250 with a loss of $1,050. Not bad. When you consider that the student Squadron commander actually said that i received the article 15 because the instructor said i was a problem child you re left with another shining example of the efficient objective non personal military Justice system.
