Artificially made to look like it was filmed in color. The poor aesthetic results not withstanding the showing of this version was a disservice to the makers of that film and the viewers of an. Colonizing is a reprehensible practice. The reason usually Given is that the producers or directors would have filmed the a Ocolor Izeda movies in color if the process was available and or Low Cost does not hold water. Color movies have been around before Becky Sharp and gone with the wind filmed in the 1930s were filmed in color. Miracle on 34th Street was a big budget movie for that time. It featured established stars. The technology existed to film it in color with a minimum of increased Cost the director chose to film it in magnificent Black and White. Recent Post color to films have been filmed in Black and White by directors with the clout to have them made that Way. Examples Are paper Moon raging Bull Manhattan and the last picture show. Has anyone seen Madonna a truth or dare a Short time viewing mtg or Afna a Jukebox will show that Black and White film is still a potent Force in film making. Directors of these a mini dramas prefer to work in Black and White and choose the music video because it gives them the Freedom to do so. Virtually All producers directors and actors of Black and White films have gone on record opposing the practice of colonizing film. My main reason in protesting the showing of the a Ocolor Izeda a a Miracle in lieu of the equally available Black and White version is that by showing it an is supporting the a Ocolor izing Industry and destroying the intent and effectiveness of the original film. I believe an should enact a policy of never showing a a Ocolor Izeda film again. A Frank Ryan Worms Germany a schools ?~catch-22?T i recently came to Germany with my military spouse and have never been so frustrated in All my life. I am a very distressed Mother trying to get my 5-year-old daughter into school. I have been told that because she was born nov. 15 and the Cut off Date is oct. 1, she is ineligible. After getting Over this disappointment i decided to enrol her in preschool again. She has attended preschool for the past two years stateside. Again 1 was told she is ineligible because the class was full and they promote from within the school when there is a vacancy. The class Only goes up to 5 years old then the kids must go off to kindergarten. So i was left with the option of a acc family child care worker. I cannot say that acc workers done to do Good jobs but 1 hardly think it is the same As being in a school environment. They tend to take kids from different age groups at the same time and simply cannot provide the stimulation curriculum or learning environment that my 5-year-old has become accustomed to in the past two years. I feel my daughter will find this Quot baby Sitter Quot environment in no Way simulates school. I understand the need to have Cut off dates for when children can Start school but the military and its cacs child development centers should realize not All kids turn 5 by october. So when this happens and the Only preschool is already full what Choice do we have now she will miss an entire year of school. I feel the military which is responsible for our being Over Here anyway owes my child the right to go to school. Or. Cecil b. Jacobson operated an artificial insemination service. He is charged with mail fraud because he is accused of using his own semen to inseminate 70 women instead of obtaining sperm from Anonymous donors. Or. Jacobson has at least two Legal defences. First if he did not identify the source of the semen to the couples then the donor was indeed Anonymous. Second if his genetic makeup is proven to be Superior to that of the average donor to semen Banks he should be rewarded rather than punished. If he is found guilty a Fine imprisonment and even Community service would be inappropriate punishment because they Lack poetic Justice. Since his crime was fathering children his punishment should require fulfilling the obligations of parenthood. I propose that or. Jacobson be sentenced to visitation by All 70 children every other sunday. If that is insufficiently severe he should be required to take All 70 children to Disney world every easter vacation for 15 years. Philip Chan Heidelberg Germany a a discipline family members recent changes in the world have had a direct reflection on Law enforcement even in the military. The incident involving Rodney King in California appears to have spread to the military and appears to have caused an unrealistic amount of turmoil with Law enforcement in Germany. In Germany family members both adults and youths have a total disregard for the Law. In accordance with the provisions of the Ucma uniform code of military Justice family members and or civilians Are not subject to its provisions. The Only recourse that is present for punishing family members and civilians in Germany is through the German court system or through the Cha civilian misconduct authority. German officials do not want to get involved unless a German citizen is injured or violated. They tend to give the impression that the problem or problems concerning family members and civilians is an a a american problem. We As americans Are helpless in combating the problems of rising crimes by family members and civilians. Why done to we Wake up we have allowed our family members such latitude in dealing with their misconduct that if they break the Law Noth letters to the editor ing happens to them. The hands of the military police Are tied in dealing with these problems and command Structure tends to believe that this is totally a a a police problem. This is not a police problem. We As sponsors brought our family members to Germany and therefore we should be responsible for whatever they do or get involved with. Our children Are direct reflections of what we Are As parents whether Good or bad. I personally done to believe that our youths would resort to such statements As a you done to have any authority Over me a if we As sponsors had not planted the idea in their Heads. The military has tried Over and Over to invoke administrative sanctions against family members. In some cases some have been returned Early to the United states. This is not the answer. Ask any one of our children. They would prefer to be in the United states. I believe there Are Good family members in our communities however when they Are naughty i believe that there should be a Type of punishment that fits their mischief. If i had the authority i would create a magistrate court system. Family member violators would be brought before the a a judge to answer for their acts of mischief. I would make the sponsors totally responsible. A Irene joke Niernberg Germany abandoned by military i am writing to let others know How the military treated me a dependent and How the military treated my husband Active duty. I was sent to two German hospitals one in Disseldorf the other in Pitburg. No one directed my husband on what to do or where to go. They just told him he was on his own since 1 was the one being put in the Hospital. We could not understand Why there was no special service already in effect. Why was there nobody to meet us and help us figure out what was going on around us to help us figure out what was being said help communicate with the doctors and nurses who could speak very Little English we had to figure out what to do on our own. We did not know that the red Cross could have helped us. Pitburg told my husband that the military does not have to Monitor the dependent who was put in a civilian Hospital. Why not my husband and i Felt As if the military left us High and dry. My husband had to sleep in our car for four Days because we did not have enough Money for a hotel. No Active duty personnel should have to do that. No person should have to go through that. I was put in the Hospital because i had an ectopic pregnancy. It was my third one. So you can see neither my mind nor my husbands was thinking very clearly. That was stressful to both of us. There Are a lot of people who feel like the military does not really care about them. Their husbands Are feeling like the military is just putting up a front a front making people think they care. A Monica m.
