I must say that Many things have bothered me but one aspect of living Here has worn out my patience. This is for you Mario Andretti a1 Unser and Paul Newman of the Ramstein housing area. Did you Ever think that one Day when you come into that first turn on the Racetrack some of us Call Home that there will be children crossing the Street or did t you see the sign that says a child care Center immediately upon taking that first turn Arentt you Able to read the sign in both English and German that states the Speed limit in housing is 15 Miles per hour or 25 Kilometres per hour i thought it was a requirement to be literate when taking the Usa eur Drivers test. I done to suppose you really want to wait until someone a child maybe even yours gets run Down by the latest a a Wannabe race car Driver before you take the responsibility that driving a car requires an automobile can kill. There is nothing else to be said. Speed limits Are established to protect our Community and not to keep your rpm at Bay. The next time you get pulled Over by the Security police done to blame them for your Lack of responsibility. A sgt. Teresa l. Adams Ramstein German read the Constitution the 15th amendment to the Constitution does not say you Are a a second class it says that the right to vote shall not be denied a a. On account of race color or previous condition of you should know that the 15th amendment along with the 13th and 14th, known collectively As the civil War amendments was written to make right the wrongs done to Blacks. These were not perfect nor were they a Complete Success but they Laid the foundations for Many of the freedoms and privileges we All enjoy today. For you to malign the . Constitution in an attempt to justify your own racial intolerance is reprehensible. Knowledge is Power. Read the Constitution perhaps some Relief for your anger lies therein a William e. Undstrom incl Lingen Germany sad fact about awards i wont go As far to say that rank has everything to do with receiving awards but having formerly worked in a battalion Pac personnel administration Center for More than four years i can say that in be seen cases where rank has a lot to do with it. It also depends on what Type of unit one is assigned to and the people in that unit. Not every Leader supervisor thinks alike about what one must do to receive an award or what kind of award. I must say though that after Reading the accomplishments of the soldiers listed in recent letters i can say that they were robbed. I say this because in More than eight years on Active duty in the army i received two arc oms and although i earned them my accomplishments were not As Many As theirs a yet they received the same awards i did. In be been assigned to admin units where 1 saw few awards Given out and in be also been assigned to combat units where Many awards were Given every time we went to the Field a and most of them to people who were just doing their Job. Its a sad fact that Many people who deserve awards done to get them while those who really done to deserve them do. A Randy f. I was watching can news a few Days ago and heard that we Are cutting $1 billion out of our defense spending for Aid to the soviet Union. What is going on with our country what Are we doing you mean to Tell me that we done to have any homeless or starving people in our country the answer is obvious. So Why Are we cutting different parts of our budget to help other countries instead of ourselves Are our politicians such imbeciles that they can to see we need to use the Money we re cutting from other programs for ourselves or is it the fact that they re just too worried about kissing up to other countries to think about our own the Way i see it we need to help ourselves and take care of our own problems before we go off giving Aid to All these other countries. Lets be realistic. If we needed Aid do you think the soviet Union or any of these other countries would help us lets be for real. If we keep taking care of everyone else and not giving enough attention to our own problems before we know it we will no longer be a world Power. You can be sure that if we stumble or fall no country is going to try to help us Upa spec Richard Schubmehl Span Dahlem German fighting Irish no. 1 being an avid notre Dame fan i would like to once and for All set the record straight concerning the fighting Irish and Alabama. Your paper recently carried a letter from an Alabama fan who seemed to have his facts just a Little bit distorted. According to the 1991 information please almanac the mythical National collegiate football Champion has been selected since 1924. The first ratings were the Dickinson Power ratings used from 1924 until 1940. They were joined by the associated press in 1936 and by United press International in 1950. Since 1924, notre Dame has been the unofficial National Champion in 1924, 1929, 1930, 1943, 1946, 1947, 1949, 1966, 1973 tied with alabama1977 and 1988, i think that adds up to 11 National championships. Alabama was selected in 1961, 1964, letters to the editor 1965 tied1973 tied1978 tied and 1979. Note that when i say tied it Means that the two wire services selected different teams. I think that adds up to six National championships. According to the same source notre Dames record since it started playing football was 683-203-40 for a winning percentage of .759 while Alabama a was 651-228-43 for .729. Neither of these counts this year. As you can see we notre Dame fans seem to have the Correct statistics on our Side when we say that a love Mem or hate a Ems the fighting Irish Are what people think about when College football is mentioned. By the Way two other Small Points in our favor. Which College football team is televised by a major to network How does notre Dame with a record of 8-3, end up in a major bowl while Alabama at 10-1, is in the blockbuster bowl whatever that is simply because people want to see notre Dame play football. You have a great football tradition at Alabama but please done to try to make it no. 1 a there is Only one and that is and always has been notre Dame. A Mike Causey Worms German bowls could be better first i and probably everyone else interested in College football agree that bowl invitations Are Given out too soon. This so called Alliance is also a joke. College football should have changes made to it in a hurry. Whether it is a playoff system or just maybe waiting until the end of the season to give out bowl invitations something needs to be done. Secondly to the writer of a bowl game matchup a everyone knows How the fighting Irish hate those canes from Miami. But come on if notre Dame had a Chance at a National championship done to you think they would stay at Home Miami has a Chance to win a National championship in their own Back Yard and Why not if you look at the Rose bowl game where Washington faces Michigan in California that could be considered Washington a second Home. If a team has the option of playing a Home game is. An away game regardless of the circumstances they would sure take the Home Field advantage they a sgt. Michael a. Quigley or.
