According to the 1991 information please almanac the mythical National collegiate football Champion has been selected since 1924. The first ratings were the Dickinson Power ratings used from 1924 until 1940. They were joined by the associated press in 1936 and by United press International in 1950. Since 1924, notre Dame has been the unofficial National Champion in 1924, 1929, 1930, 1943, 1946, 1947, 1949, 1966, 1973 tied with alabama1977 and 1988, i think that adds up to 11 National championships.
