The Irish 10-3 overcame a 13-0 deficit to snap Florida a eight game winning Streak. The gators 10-2 held a Longshot Hope of claiming the National championship but that dream was shattered before the Kickoff in the Louisiana super dome when no. 2 Washington crushed no. 4 Michigan 34-14 in the Rose bowl.
