Moreover the shortage of hard currency and inflation in their own country made it virtually impossible for the russian students to be involved. That is where the Dodds Mun clubs came to the Rescue. Asked if they would be willing to pay the fees of about $85 for one russian student not a single one of the clubs we contacted refused. In addition four of the schools welcomed russian students on their own teams a and others offered to do so As Well. More than once i have Cut my shopping trip Short because the music i was forced to listen to offended me. I am not referring to implied messages in these songs but to graphic language that could Only be classified As pornographic. I have overheard comments and complaints from customers around me and 1 urge them to speak up also so that this situation is changed. A Beth Jopson Heidelberg Germany measure of Comfort i recently received wonderful medical care when i was at the of gyn clinic for a checkup. It was my 39th week of pregnancy and the staff observed that the baby was experiencing fetal distress. I required immediate caesarean surgery. That experience has made me realize the importance of the Vicenza military Community a Reliance on the army Hospital. Of sure we have some of the Best care in the surrounding italian cities but when it comes right Down to it i Felt so much better with an american doctor and nurse caring for my baby and me in our time of need. I understand the army is drawing Down in Europe but i Hope when its All said and done the professionals at the . Army Hospital in Vicenza remain. We family members have Given up the comforts of Home and experience the difficulties of living in foreign nations. I just Hope the senior army leaders in Usa eur think of communities of excellence and the army family when its crunch time. Granted Small hospitals like ours Arentt Cost effective but they sure do provide a measure of Comfort. Not everything can be measured in numbers. Just ask Sarah Jeanne my daughter. A Susan c. I was recently told by a military dentist Friend that at the end of each Day he is required to fill out three forms that indicate How much time he spends on military civilian and Retiree patients. The staffing at military clinics is based on Active duty population and family members. Retirees Are to be seen Only on a space available basis. If the clinic devotes time to non Active duty patients it is considered overstaffed and is a candidate for reductions. You can see what the Impact is if the Active duty Force does not seek frequent routine care to keep the Active duty statistics up. My Friend strongly believes the dental corps will be significantly reduced in the future. I have been retired for six years after serving for 25 years in the army. It is terribly disappointing to witness the significant erosion of benefits and commitment and the lip service being paid by the services to the service members families. So much for the commitment and benefits of a military career. A Joseph a Stehling or. Stuttgart German politics no a soap opera what Are the qualifications of a Good politician this seems to be what the next american presidential election will be All about regardless of the countless problems and issues facing the nation at the end of this Century. For Many americans Blind patriotism and a Puritan life Are prerequisites for being a Good president in a society that is far from being Puritan. The morality a a test is strict and pitiless even though most americans would not pass it. Letters to the editor is politics really about morality or is it about management efficiency Power and shrewdness the founding fathers had exceptional political skills that allowed the United states to exist and Prosper. Most of All their private lives and commitments were not to be questioned. There was too much at stake and their dedication to the new nation was such that it would have been irrelevant to investigate their sexual lives or other private matters. The United states is now facing new challenges and problems that need decisive and vigorous leadership to survive the crisis. Perhaps it is time to forget looking a a Good and tackle the present problems that if unchecked could undermine the principles upon which the United states has been founded. Lets give other politicians a Chance. So what if Arkansas gov. Bill Clinton had extramarital affairs can we assume that he might be Likely to cheat on his country if elected politics is not a soap opera. The future of the nation rests on the people. Maturity is essential to come to grips with priorities. But Are a the people mature enough a Vanina m. Klei Hesselink Ramstein German environment comes first i cannot figure out what the problem is with George Bush a attending the planned . A Rio conference on global warming. Bush says its a a hot political year and some critics say he will be repeating the mistake of focusing his attentions on the International front As opposed to taking care of business at Home. I am personally outraged because i am not Only an american citizen i am also an inhabitant of the planet Earth. How can economic concerns continually override environmental issues there is no justification for it. Saving jobs at the expense of Mankind itself is a ludicrous idea. If decisions like this continue to be made in favor of things like Industry Economy and outright greed the outcome is obvious. But hey if we keep pumping up the Economy at least Well All be Able to afford our Gas masks.
