It upsets me to see food and medical supplies going to the former soviet Union. Before coming into the army i lived close to Philadelphia where i saw people living on the streets.  we use the food and medical supplies for the homeless and use the Money spent on the planes fuel for Low Cost housing or to help these people get on their feet lets help our own before helping others. First the congressman would be prohibited from receiving any other forms of income no speaking fees Campaign contributions interest on investments or whatever. Second the congressman would have to pay All his operating expenses out of his $1 million. He could have As Many staffers As he wanted but he would have to pay for them with his own Money. He could Send out As Many mailings to his constituents As he wanted but he would have to pay the going postage rate for them All. He could also take As Many overseas junkets As he wanted for business or pleasure but As Long As he paid for them himself no one would care. He could have the Best health care Money can buy and could maintain residences in As Many locales As he wanted provided he can budget for them out of his own pocket. He could spend As much As he wanted on his own Campaign provided he has saved a few Bucks for his re election. However if he Hasni to spent his Money wisely he May not have enough left to run a Good Campaign a which would be just As Well because he probably  deserve to be re elected. Third his $1 million would not be adjusted for inflation. Instead it would be linked to the Federal budget deficit. If Congress were to pass a budget in which expenditures exceeded revenues then the congressman a $1 million would be reduced by an amount proportional to the deficit. If Congress believes there is a National emergency serious enough to justify deficit spending they should be willing to sacrifice a Little something for the greater Good. Of course if the a a emergency Isnit All that serious maybe they wont see such a need for personal sacrifice especially one that seems to last year after year. On March 3,1 refused a certified letter addressed to me from merchants Community Bank in Augsburg. This certified letter was postmarked Jan. 17 and was mailed from the Augsburg Apo to another Augsburg Apo address. The Only answer i could get was sorry this is not the United states where you get your Telephone Bill itemize you Are Here in Germany and we do have a privacy act Law dates Chut Gesetz. I am a German citizen and i do know about the above Law. But when it comes to my husbands hard earned Money to be spent on astronomical Telephone Bills i  care less about the Law.
