European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - March 12, 1992, Darmstadt, Hesse Arm Landers dear Ann Landers your column has been a great place to vent anger and that is what i need to do. I work in the office of a cardiologist and help run cardiac stress tests on patients. The Law requires that the cardiologist be present during this exam. The patients Are Given specific appointment times and they Are always prompt. The problem is that the physician is often an hour or More late. Invariably the patients take out their anger on the technical and nursing staff. I have told these people to let the physician know How they feel but no one Ever does. Even the most irate patient becomes a pussycat the moment the doctor enters the room. The cardiologist will give the patient some excuse about an emergency somewhere which is rarely the Case. Why done to these patients realize that they Are paying dearly for terrible service very few people would tolerate such irresponsible behaviour from anyone else whose services they were paying for and i might add doctors these Days done to come cheap. I believe if More people would speak up and remind the physician that the patients time is just As important As the doctors and let the a a employees know who is a Boss a this problem would quickly disappear. Ann help these people Wake up and smell the Coffee. Monica in Sarasota dear Monica its a fact of life that most patients in the doctor s waiting room need the doctor More than the doctor needs them. This tends to make some doctors arrogant and inconsiderate. If a doctor is consistently More than 40 minutes late thursday March 12, 1992 the stars and stripes today a crossword the patient should Tell him or her not the nurse technician or receptionist a the Long wait produces anxiety and anger. Please be More realistic about your scheduling or i will have to find another and then do it. Dear Ann Landers. My Mother died recently and dad gave her jewelry to my sister and me to Divide up. My sister took most of the expensive stuff but i did no to care. The Only pieces i cared about were momus wedding band and her initial ring. I also wanted some of my mothers clothing because i am looking for a Job and her nicer things would have made a Good impression. When i opened my Mother s closet All her clothes were gone. I know my sister took them but when i asked her she lied and said she did no to. I then asked my father about the clothes and he avoided answering. Nothing can be said or done to alleviate the sense of betrayal i feel. I done to know if in a More upset because of the lies or because my sister sneaked the clothes out of town and my father covered up for her. Please done to print my name or state. I done to want to let the world know about the Rotten treatment i got but do print my letter for the Benefit of others who May one Day face this experience. Hurt and angry in never never land dear never never a a things do not make people Happy. You arc going to fare a lot better than your sister who got the Best jewelry and the fancy clothes. Clothes Wear out and jewelry becomes less exciting after you be had it awhile. Ill opt for self respect any Day of the week. My hat is off to you for taking the highroad. And done to think for a minute that your father does no to know the score. And so does your Mother. C creators Syndicate dear Abby dear Abby. If a Sitter is going to be at our Home during mealtime we always buy enough food for her. Here a the problem some of these kids act As if they never get a meal at Home for example one Sitter ripped through the entire cupboard and fridge trying a Little bit of everything leaving All the packages open. Another one ate an entire Box of snack crackers every time she sat for us. She also ate two full bags of potato chips. A third Sitter came at 2 . And announced that she had not had any lunch. 1 told her i had not planned on feeding her so there Wasny to much to eat. Well she helped herself to two cans of Cream of mushroom soup a half loaf of bread Toast and a Jar of marshmallow or Fame in be tried talking to these kids leaving notes and hiding the goodies we had bought for entertaining. Nothing has worked. Also i wonder where my children were when All this mass consumption was going on. The last Straw was when a Sitter sent our children to their rooms for a a a Nap they Are 8 and 10 for an hour and a half while she cleaned out the fridge. Only after we took her Home did we discover she had eaten our dinner and wiped out a weeks Supply of luncheon meat. Now what _ fed up with feeding them dear fed up leave nothing to Chance. If your Sitter is going to sit during a mealtime set aside the meal she is to have Point it out so there will be no misunderstanding and Tell her that she is not to help herself to anything else. If your instructions Are not followed hire a Sitter who is More mature and who will not clean you out. The Story about David Rice Atchison the alleged a president for a Day a is a wonderful Story. Its not True but its still a Good Story. T the term of James k. Poll to ended at noon on March 4, 1849, t macnary Taylor s term began at that time. The fact that Taylor did not take the oath until the next Day has no relevance the oath does no to make a president.
