Downs syndrome is caused by an extra chromosome either in the sperm or egg. It happens at the moment of Conception. It was not because of anything i did or did not do while i was pregnant nor is it anyone a fault. I am not Quot too Young to have a child with Downs syndrome. Eighty percent of All Downs syndrome children Are bom to women under 35. In be been asked a Are you sure your child has Downs syndrome a of course in a sure Why would i say so if one had not been tested people say Quot she does no to look like she has Downs there Are Over 50 physical characteristics of Downs syndrome. If a child is bom with eight of these a genetic test is usually done. Children with Downs syndrome All look different and other than their Downs syndrome characteristics they resemble their parents. They do not Quot All look alike nor Are they a it is not unrealistic to believe that my child will be Able to read at a fourth Grade level. She will not be Quot like a 3-year-old forever. Many Downs syndrome people live Complete Happy lives so done to pity me. Our daughter is a Bright Beautiful child who has brought great Joy to our lives.
