European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - November 1, 1992, Darmstadt, Hesse _ Page 2bl our Cut through fog and give Perot a Clear Chance Walter Lamb As Bill Clinton gets closer and closer to pulling off the greatest deception in re cent political history i thought that some conscientious voters might like to read about a few of the Many myths that the american people have accepted As undisputed truth. Myth 1 a Bill Clinton is the candidate for Clinton has been the governor of Arkansas longer than George Bush has been president of the United states. Yet Arkansas is suffering from a recession just As much As the rest of the nation. Clinton claims that Bush should be voted out of office because he failed to Battle the recession and he a right. By the same Token Clinton should be voted out of office As governor of Arkansas because he failed to combat the recession in his own state. Myth 2 a Cross Perot has no Chance to win so he should step not Only is this false it is a dangerous attitude to have in a democratic society. Until the ballots Are cast Ross Perot has just As much Chance to win As the other two candidates. Being behind in the polls is not the same As being in a football game. If a majority of people vote for Perot on election Day he will win regardless of How he has done in the polls. Furthermore in a race where there is so much voter dissatisfaction Over the candidates we should Wel come another alternative whether we choose to vote for him or not. Lastly the More candidates that Are in the race the harder it is to rely on mudslinging As a Campaign strategy. Two opponents twice As much mud. Myth 3 a we can Trust the Media to provide responsible unbiased every commentary that i have read regarding per Ross Perot prescribes economic Medicine for the nation s balance Sheet during one of his television ads. Of s re entry into the race has been negative yet no one has criticized him concerning the issues. He has been criticized for having big ears for being Short or for not having the brightest personality. So if you Are waiting for a responsible journalist to report on Perot a plan to reduce the deficit and revive the Economy done to hold your breath. Myth 4 a Cross Perot does no to deserve to be the Issue is not which candidate deserves to be president but which candidate the nation deserves. We will be the winners or losers in this election not the candidates. If Ross Perot loses he returns to his life As a billionaire and we Are left with Bush or Clinton to Lead us out of these Tough times. The Only Issue should be that Perot a proven Fina Cial Genius is the most qualified candidate to Lead us out of the recession. Unfortunately the biggest Issue with voters seems to be the attitude that Perot deserted them. His former supporters have forgotten Why they backed him in the first place he is the Best candidate and Are now acting like jilted lovers seeking to get even. They feel that he abandoned them so they want to abandon him in return. All they have really abandoned however is their own idea that the american people could stand up to the All powerful political parties. Myth 5 a whoever wins America will survive like for years we worried about being conquered by communist hordes. Now that we have finally sub Dued that threat we Are truly on the Brink of bankruptcy and no one seems too worried. We Are satisfied if someone tells us that the deficit Isnit increasing As fast As before without even realizing that one Day we Are actually going to have to Start reducing it. If someone had told a roman citizen that his society was going to collapse he would have laughed out loud. No wonder that people today laugh when they hear the same thing said about America.
