It probably. Upset quite a few people but it is my opinion that it opened the eyes of those living in ignorance of the sad state of the world around them this crude editorial is real life to Muslim women. People who say the United states should not be involved in Bosnia have to remember these atrocities Are being committed on fellow human beings. If it takes a crude a a cartoon to help those remember that fact then maybe More shocking cartoons need to be added to the newspaper. Its about time we had an Eye opener to Wake up the masses and pay closer attention to the world. This is not a fictional novel nor a movie happening in Bosnia. This is real. Is it horrible yes. Are we going to put up with it i certainly Hope not. When my grandchildren ask years from now what we did about these atrocities i Hope i can look them in the Eye and say a fall that we a Emmett Gonzales Kaiserslautern Germany a a cartoon in poor taste i was appalled by the editorial illustration depicting a bosnian woman being raped by a serb. Extremely poor taste was used in selecting this a a cartoon for publication. The stars and stripes should ave used a bit More tact in dealing with such a sensitive Issue. The atrocities taking place in the Balkans most certainly need to be addressed but not in this tasteless manner. Granted the editorial Page is the place to present controversial issues however this should not become the place for journalistic free reign to transcend decency. A airman 1st class Matthew Lascell Kaiserslautern German consider adoption 1 read with horror the account of the Young army Mother who placed her 4-week-old daughter in the closet while she went on leave to the United states leaving the baby to die. Of All of the stories that have been in the news lately surrounding children and the various abuses that Are being done to them this one has moved me the most. My wife and i tried in vain for six years to have a child of our own and last year we had the privilege to adopt a wonderful child from a Mother who Wasny to thinking of herself or of what other people thought of her having this child. This it Mother was concerned for this life she had brought into the world and about the responsibility she had to make sure that this Beautiful child had the same chances every other child has. My wife and i do not consider our child smother As the woman who gave up her baby. We think of her As the woman who loved her baby so much that she wanted to make sure that he had a better life than she could give him. We also think of her As the woman who gave us the one thing that was missing in our life that would make our family Complete. As our child grows we will always Tell him about his birth Mother and about How wonderful it was when she made the Choice to make an adoption plan. Is Mer Laws concerning adoption have been revised during the last several years and the birth Mother has Many More rights than before. In our Case our child a birth Mother chose what kind of parents she wanted to raise her child through an Anonymous letter that we wrote and the kind of environment that we could provide the child. The birth Mother can choose what religion the child is raised in the Type of work the father does whether the child will be raised with or without siblings and even whether the Mother will stay at Home with the child or also have a career. In Many cases such As ours if the birth Mother feels she needs counselling to help her get through this time the adoptive parents will be responsible for paying for such counselling. These Are just a few options open to the birth Mother. When the child is grown if the birth Mother child and the adoptive parents agree the child and birth Mother can be reunited. The option is also there for the birth Mother never to meet the child but its up to her. I guess if i have to sum it All up 1 want to say to those mothers who think maybe there is no other Choice than to end this child a life think about the child before you think about yourself. A staf sgt. David e. Hall Raf Croughton England a Achild molesters enough has been said about Gays in the military that some arguments favouring the idea can be answered. How do these arguments compare with arguments for child molesters in the military one Man argued that a a Gay service member might save your life a child molesting service member might also save your life. Another Man pointed out that it was our Job to follow orders from above. A if the president wants Gays in the military we need to carry it out like any other i doubt he would say this if the resident called for accepting child to Esters into the military. Another Man pointed to his Long military career in which he had known Gay service members. He Felt they should be permitted to stay in the military. What about the career military person who knew a. Responsible and hard working sergeant who was a closet child molester some would argue for a difference be tween Gays and child molesters because Gay partners both consent to their sexual practice. Let it be remembered that Germany with consent starting at the age of 16.-hence, we see that the Laws of our country Are what makes a difference Between Gays and child molesters in the military. But then it was a proposed change in our country a Law toward Gays that brought this whole thing about. A a Steve Wallace Bann Germany.
