Of All of the stories that have been in the news lately surrounding children and the various abuses that Are being done to them this one has moved me the most. My wife and i tried in vain for six years to have a child of our own and last year we had the privilege to adopt a wonderful child from a Mother who Wasny to thinking of herself or of what other people thought of her having this child. This it Mother was concerned for this life she had brought into the world and about the responsibility she had to make sure that this Beautiful child had the same chances every other child has. My wife and i do not consider our child smother As the woman who gave up her baby. We think of her As the woman who loved her baby so much that she wanted to make sure that he had a better life than she could give him. We also think of her As the woman who gave us the one thing that was missing in our life that would make our family Complete. As our child grows we will always Tell him about his birth Mother and about How wonderful it was when she made the Choice to make an adoption plan. Is Mer Laws concerning adoption have been revised during the last several years and the birth Mother has Many More rights than before. In our Case our child a birth Mother chose what kind of parents she wanted to raise her child through an Anonymous letter that we wrote and the kind of environment that we could provide the child. The birth Mother can choose what religion the child is raised in the Type of work the father does whether the child will be raised with or without siblings and even whether the Mother will stay at Home with the child or also have a career. In Many cases such As ours if the birth Mother feels she needs counselling to help her get through this time the adoptive parents will be responsible for paying for such counselling. These Are just a few options open to the birth Mother. When the child is grown if the birth Mother child and the adoptive parents agree the child and birth Mother can be reunited. The option is also there for the birth Mother never to meet the child but its up to her. I guess if i have to sum it All up 1 want to say to those mothers who think maybe there is no other Choice than to end this child a life think about the child before you think about yourself.
