Ludicrous Metter every so often something appears in letters that is so ludicrous it begs for a response. In fight drugs not guns Jan. 7the writer s assertion that the Sale of any drug in any amount should re sult in. The death penalty is quite simply claim that a teen Ager who gets busted for Selling a joint is in the Sam league with those who import millions of dollars Worth of cocaine or heroin makes me wonder what the writer has been smoking not just let the arresting officer shoot the dirt bags and save our Over worked courts the trouble of giving these lowlifes a fair trial the sort of scorched Earth Justice advocated by the writer May once have worked in Iran or the soviet Union but not in America. " Ivo longer a Community when i was in the United states kept snaring with my sister a military wife like myself my desire to come Backoo this Beautiful country but not so i can buy sch ranks or Crystal or even i left Here in 83, i took Back with me something that can never be re placed. Here i really got a Chance to see the Community work together. You Lookout for me and i la look out for you we need each other was what kept being repeated to me and finally i got the Mes Sage. Overall it was very positive and the majority of people were very gracious. My sister tried to Tell me How things an attitudes had changed especially the americans. She tried to keep me fro being disappointed and failed. I just knew i was coming Back to experience that wonderful sense of Community again. It took exactly i a months for my Rose coloured glasses to get yanked off. I had never seen nor heard of such be Havior As i experienced in the months that i be been Here. Is it the draw Down that has reduced men and i mean women As Well to such backstabbing and lying and mean and manipulative conduct is it fear of Rock ing the boat that is keeping those who could do something from doing some thing what is it that is preventing offi cers from behaving like gentleman i that phrase passe in the army has it be come dog eat dog has the draw Donnow become the breakdown of Trust in the military you May ask who have you been talking to i can honestly say a few ple. It is things i be heard while sitting at a bus Stop or in the mall areas dining facilities at Parks or even in the commis sary line or experiences of those ple i know. All t want to know is cannot Trust some of their leaders in peacetime How Are the going to be Able to Trust them in War time Elaine Andrews Katterbach Germany. v housing reflects society in reference to a recent letter dealing with conditions of military housing areas i have lived in military housing areas five years and unfortunately the problem described Are not isolated and regrettably Are a reflection of the american society and the decline of it. Naturally one can t sit Back and say that All occupants of such areas behave equally but obviously those who behave substandard stand out among the de cent encounter the american families who say Why should i care. I m Only Here for a few years it s not my Home \ " then there Are those who simply have extended their Normal lifestyle to an other country. Both groups Are frightening because they permeate callousness laziness and disregard for the cleanliness of second group however reflects the decline of the american it reflects the upbringing of an entire Genera failure of parental Structure leadership and yes values unfortunately i passed on to the next generation. Parental supervision guidance and leadership cannot be executed from a Balcony the next time you walk past a .housing area and see trash All Over the grounds overflowing dumpsters car Bat teries animal fees in the stairwells smiled diapers on the playground or in hallway ashtray think about what it says about us the americans. I Don t like it. I realize there will be those who will say what has he done to improve on these problems Well after five years. He Mem. It s like trying to sweep Sand off a Beach.
