Stein attorney for the Ore gon Republican senator filed papers tuesday appealing a lower court order that could have the diaries in the com Mittee s hands in two weeks. Even More crucial to Packwood at the moment Stein urged that the diaries be kept from the committee until the .court of appeals rules on the subpoena s constitutionality. Stein s request to put everything on hold went to . District judge Thomas Penfield Jackson who on monday established a timetable for sending the diaries to the committee.
