By Mark Kinkade staff writer staying at euro Disney s Camp Davy Crockett and calling it camping is kind of like going on a congressional Quot fact finding the amenities Are world class you Don t have to work and the Only thing you really do is Mickey mouse around. It s hard to define Camp Davy Crockett As a Campground. After All How Many campgrounds Are actually Little Disney suburbs Complete with swimming pools restaurants trailers and 5-foot-tall chipmunks peering in windows. There Are some simple do s and Don to about planning a trip to Camp Davy Crockett a Don t expect the great outdoors. Camp Davy Crockett is stuck in the Middle of a Grove of Trees on a Flat Plain a few Kilometres from euro Disney in Marne la Vallee France. Leave the boundaries of the Trees and suddenly you re in the French Equivel ant of Kansas sans Totoa do expect clean campsites and lots of things to do. Disney has carved a Lazy Man s adventure out of the French Woods and they want you to enjoy it. They must figure that children Don t really like to sit around in tents while dad explains fire Craft so Disney gives them swimming pools and arcades in the Woods. The Park also has Comfort stations that include showers and toilets laundry facilities baby changing stations and information desks. A Don t expect the Manly sport of camping As you know it. No fire circles tent pitching or Poison Ivy. The Only thing remotely Davy Crockett about Camp Davy Crockett is the Coonskin Cap perched jauntily on Mickey mouse s smiling Noggin As he Waves from a billboard outside the Campground. A do expect the easy life Complete with maid service. The Only trails you have to Blaze will be through the crowds at the Alamo trading Post in the mock up old West looking Village Only a few Yards from your front door. A Don t expect tents caves or hastily built lean tos. Forget about packing that Coleman stove All those lanterns and your deet Bug repellent. The closest you will get to an insect Are the flies caught in the screens of your trailer windows. A do expect massive trailers big enough fora family of six Complete with Kitchen bathroom utensils and All the pleasures of a three Star hotel. When s the last time you went camping and found mints on top of your Bedroll a. Disney has 414 Quot Cabins Quot a which is Disney Ese for a trailer with fake Wood sides a Barbecue Grill microwave Etc. Or you can bring your own trailer or tent if you want to. The Campground has 181 campsites where you can throw your Blanket Down but frankly the people who do that look a Littfe silly the next morning when you re walking hum your trailer to the swimming Pool and they re hanging up their socks on a line to dry a Don t expect to spend your Days collecting kindling and marvelling at some fragile Doe that scampered through your Campground in the morning. Remember this is Disney which Means people lots of them visit a every year. Camp Davy Crockett is about 12 Miles from the autoroute the French version of the German autobahn. Any Deer Lucky enough to survive the autoroute would probably be hit by one of the hundreds of Golf carts that employees and patrons alike use to shuttle around.
