As the film opens he plays a hardened convict ready to pick a fight with anyone. From there he progresses into a Rich Toff ending up As an affectionate Parent. In this metamorphosis he pulls no punches with anyone who happens to rub him the wrong Way from Crooks to detectives. He is a Loyal battling supporter to his friends a sentimental Lover a gentle father and the possessive defender of his rights. At his toughest however he never ceases to convey a lovable character filled with a raw Justice that is none the less convincing for being his own. Dorothy Patrick Gladys George Tom Drake put in some Good work in their supporting roles. This is a film which might easily have slipped into the second rate category with so Many others but acting and direction have Lent it a touch of genuine human Appeal and have helped to accentuate the humor throughout the Story. 20.
