Also and very important it would contain a provision whereby the tax credit would be tied to the Cost of living and would be raised in line with Cost of living increases. Legislation along this line has already been sponsored by rep. . Bafalis a Fla. Still to be worked out is the amount of tax credit that would be Given. For years Warfe and Federal and postal employee unions advocated giving government retirees the same tax exempt status As social Security recipients. But it has become apparent that Congress will not go for such an approach. Therefore the employee organizations Haave adopted the tax credit approach As the Best Way to win some tax Relief for re tired government workers. While a tax credit system won t give government employees the same tax break As social Scuri to recipients it will substantially narrow the difference
