Dalton takes Stock by in Lewis United press International Lac Dalton says she s been spending too much time worrying about the future and it s time to Stop and look around. Dalton a year away from being 40, took a two year hiatus from recording and now thinks it Hurt her career. And she recently broke up with her Long time Boyfriend. In a candid interview from her Home in the mountains just above Santa Cruz calif., Dalton reflected on the Way things Are going. I be had so Many ups and Downs changing managers and problems with the record company that have interfered with my career. Unfortunately there is nobody that will do it for you. I spend so much time on the Road just trying to keep this thing afloat that it s really hard to balance out the rest of it and produce like you could with a real Liberal budget. We re really close to the Bone. When you stay off the record Market for a couple of years you re not a Safe artist for radio. They Are afraid to play you. The system is not geared to somebody dropping out for a couple of years in country  choosing not to record for a couple of years was a mistake but it was something i really had to do she said. People thought i did t work but the Odd thing was i was on the Toad  but Dalton says she s always lived in the future. "1 was always thinking ahead what am i going to do next week where will i be. I m trying to curb it. It s time to slow Down and take a look and be More careful about the Way you observe and experience  Lacy /. Dalton is disappointed he newest album has t been a resounding Success. Dalton who has a 14-year-old son says she s not concerned about turning 40 next year. I could go crazy trying to compete with Beautiful Young things that Are making lots of Money. I can t compete and i Don  she s not even worried about living near the san Andreas fault ironically in the same House where she lived when she was on food Stamps after the death of her husband in 1974. He died three years after being paralysed in a Freak swimming Accident. Asked How tragedy has affected her she replied i think it has affected me. Anytime you have any sort of life experience that you can draw upon it makes your writing a Little bit deeper. You can understand or you be been places that perhaps some people Haven t been yet. And maybe you can throw a Little Light Back at them and show them it s not the end of the world. I Don t dwell too much on the past. Really i Don t think too much about the past. If anything i live too much in the future. I really think Art is experiencing each and every moment. You know really Stop and smell the Flowers. In the past seven years i Don t think i be done that. But recently i decided to become less attached to those future things and just try to take life at one moment at a time and of course i m a million Miles from the career goal. But i think i m enjoying it a lot More this year. Certainly Success has eluded me this year with the new album. We be had some Chart action on it but it certainly has t been As great As the Chart action we be had in the past even though a lot of the music is  but if anyone thinks Lar Dalton is feeling sorry for herself or unhappy look again. I m a very Happy person. I m not Happy with the career. It s extremely difficult and a pain in the butt a lot of times. But i m Happy and grateful to be on the planet. I think i have Talent As a writer. I Haven t even begun to write what i am Able to write.
