Concerned that their voices will not be heard in the nomination process some Western states Are exploring the possibility of a multistage primary in their Region while democrats in California new Jersey and Illinois Are be ginning to discuss moving up their primaries. Southern democrats say one of their goals is to curb the influence of Iowa and new Hampshire in the nomination process. Some strategists however say a regional primary could wind up enhancing the role played by these two states which hold the first caucuses and primary of the Campaign season. If a Southern super tuesday does reduce the importance of Iowa and new Hampshire said one top Republican strategist it won t be apparent until 1992."
