Up Dan Forsman playing 36 holes of bogey free Golf shot Back to Back 67s sunday to win the rain shortened $500,000 Hertz Bay Hill classic by one shot Over Raymond Floyd and Mike Hulbert. Forsman had rounds of 68, 67, and 67 to finish at 202, 11-under Par. After Floyd and Hulbert came Wayne Levi at 9-under. Dan Pohl and Curtis strange finished at 8 under 205. Because rain cancelled play Friday and saturday the tournament was shortened to 54 holes with 36 being played sunday on the 7,103-Yard, Par-71 Bay Hill course. The $90,000 first prize was the biggest of Forsman s career and raised his 1986 earnings to $125,526. It was Forsman s second career Triumph. He won the Quad cities open last year. Forsman parred eight straight holes after birding the Par-5 sixth Hole to go 10-under before sinking a 17-footer for Birdie on the Par-4 15th. Forsman s Birdie on 15 came moments after Hulbert birdied the 17th to temporarily tie Forsman at 10-under. Forsman parred out after the Birdie at 15, including a Good save at 16 when he hit an errant tee shot. Hulbert missed a putt from the fringe on 18 that would have tied him with Forsman. Floyd also failed to sink a Chip from the Back fringe that would have tied Forsman. The pea received a scare when play again was sus Pended Early sunday morning but the showers subsided and the tournament resumed 25 minutes later. A Charles Owens tapped in a three foot putt for a Par on the second playoff Hole sunday to beat Dale Douglass by a stroke and win the $200,000 senior pea tour Roundup. Owens and Douglass traded birdies on the first playoff Hole but Douglass got into trouble on the second Hole the Par-3, 237-Yard no. 17 by hitting his tee shot into a Sand trap. Owens who shot a 64 saturday to tie the course record chipped his second shot to within inches of the Hole and waited As Douglass hit out of the trap. Douglass could Only get to within eight feet of the Flag and two putted for a bogey while Owens tapped in for Par. Sanders was third in the 54-Man Field at 203 followed by Chi Chi Rodriguez 204. And Thomson 205. Billy Casper and Gay Brewer tied for sixth at 206. Defending Champion Don january finished the tournament in a tie for 23rd with a 214 total. Johnson Geddes tied at 1 under in rain plagued tourney Glendale Calif. In second place at 1-Over were Juli Inkster who won last week s Kemper open in Hawaii and Laurie Rinker. Each played 12 holes. Amy Alcott completed 13 holes and was fifth at 2-under.
