On the other hand Confederate rockers who like their music Boozy and Bluesy probably won t take to inst Urzend Neu Bauten s Industrial Rock seeing it As mighty bizarre. But that spectrum of diversity could Well be Why the name bizarre festival has stuck to the Daylong concert held annually at the Loreley Frei Bushne near St. Goar Hausen West Germany. On saturday the nine band Bazaar of the bizarre featured the rogues inst Urzend Neu Bauten the Georgia satellites Phillip Boa and the voodoo club Guresch Patti the sugar cubes big pig . And twelve drummers drumming. The australian band inns still Riding a Crest of Success from its kick album had been scheduled to headline but cancelled when the drummer injured an arthritic knee in a skateboarding Accident. Another aussie band in the lineup however Rose to the occasion and did the Homeland proud. Big pig whose single / can t breakaway hit the . Dance Chart s top 10 and received a Little an airplay offered a 30-minute set that was All too Short comprised of songs from its first album Bonk. Clad in Black leather butchers aprons the seven band members utilize Only keyboards percussion and the big voice of Lead vocalist Sherine just Sherine to drive their sound an oddly complimentary blend of passionate gospel blues vocals and High tech instrumentation. Arriving without Benefit of a wave of performers from their native country were the sugar cubes Iceland s one and Only Rock Export. The focal Point of the six person band is Lead vocalist Bjork Gudmunds Dottie a childlike personage who wore a Silver lame dress Blue tights and heavy duty work boots. The possessor of an ethereal voice to rival that of Jon Anderson of yes for other worldliness Gudmunds Dottie is backed by a quintet of trumpet guitars and Drums that rage in discord then end their numbers abruptly. They were not popular in Iceland until they went to London sniffed an icelandic woman in the audience. Now they Are very  France like Iceland in t known for its contributions to the pop Rock world. They Are very heavy said one audience member explaining the German band s music. You know swans How they sound it is very terrible but you cannot go  to a first time listener the performance Art group s sound brought to mind a factory in which Assembly workers manufacture Small parts for which there is no obvious use. Maybe that s the idea music to be depressed  closing out about 11 hours of music were the High spirited pogues the Irish Folk Punk musicians whose jigs lightened the Amphitheater mood and rallied the crowd to bouts of dancing As fireworks exploded along the Rhein River. But soon after the beginning of the pogues set even the multicoloured mohawks that had stood so proud and tall Early in the Day were beginning to look a Little wilted. Music lovers who smoked had run out of cigarettes. The vegetables served atop the Fried Curry Rice being sold there looked distinctly unhealthy. It was definitely time to go Home.
