Anderson was of course taking a poke at the band s age. This year the British Rock group is celebrating its 20th anniversary. But most of the other bands on the festival Bill might Well have ended the show the same Way. The blues Rock legend ten years after reunited in its original lineup after some 14 years apart. Rolling Stone bassist Ron Wood teamed up with one of his band s major influences guitarist to diddle who s touted As the father of Rock n Roll. Sta ship formerly Jefferson air plane one of the most important groups to emerge from the san Francisco area in the 60s performed although without Singer Grace Slick. She has reportedly retired from the music business and the British american group foreigner rocked heavy with mostly hits from the late 70s. Americans Sang and danced to the straight ahead Rock n Roll of foreigner and Sta ship. All three crowd favourites performed mostly their biggest hits and added a few songs from new releases. Highlights of Tull s set were the 1971 tunes Aqualung and locomotive breath. Anderson was As Wacky As Ever on stage bouncing around kicking his legs High making faces at the crowd. None of the theatrics however detracted from the musicians talents and ability to keep the crowd rocking. Foreigner started with Early Rock n rollers including feels like the first time cold As ice and head games before moving on to the later hit ballads waiting fora girl like you and / a in to know what love is. In a Brief interview backstage Lead guitarist Mick Jones said that because of outside projects the band has not done a full fledged tour since the release late last Yea of inside information. Following the release of his debut Solo album ready or not in 1987, Singer Lou Gramm has been working on another album to be released this fall and Jones has been producing fledgling bands. With Slick s retirement Sta ship s explosiveness appears to be fizzling. Without Slick s powerful vocals the group has lost its spark. The musicians could Well have been any cover band performing Sta ship tunes. Perhaps the time for Sta ship s career to be Over has arrived. The out in the Green festival continues in West Germany this weekend with performances in Giessen at the vib Wald station july 16 and in Oldenburg at the Weser Ems gels de july 17.
