In Georgia s 6th District race to oppose Gingrich unofficial returns from 150 of 218 precincts showed David Worley a 30-year-old attorney with 20,696 votes or 54 percent to businessman Clyde Owens 17,400, or 46 percent. Worley had the backing of Georgia House speaker Tom Murphy. Worley focused More on Gingrich than on his democratic rival during the primary Campaign saying at one Point that Gingrich s five terms in Congress rep resented "10 years of double talking double dealing and  Gingrich accused Worley of running a remarkably negative and inaccurate Campaign and said he would debate the challenger in every county of the District. In All eight of Georgia s 10 congressmen won renomination without opposition in the primary election. Both of those opposed were victorious.
