The 73-Page report by the London based organization that monitors human rights violations around the world was one of the most scathing documents amnesty inter National has published on a single nation in recent years and by far the most damning on a nato nation. The turkish government failed to respond seriously to the documented evidence of mistreatment that included forms of crucifixion amnesty said. It said Turkey still had an appalling human right record despite a Public relations Effort by its embassies around the world to improve its image and official turkish ratification of european and . Conventions against torture. For years amnesty International has been concerned about extensive violation of human rights in Turkey in All areas of its mandate prisoners of conscience unfair trials of political prisoners the use of torture and the death penalty. The most notable is the use of torture. Amnesty has received reports of torture from Turkey virtually daily during the past two months it said. It said the victims of physical and mental torture prac tired nationwide included members of outlawed political parties Trade unionists religious activists members of the kurdish ethnic minority journalists editors and writers and in a number of cases women and children.
